Kedron Valley Inn

This is a lovely and very simple inn; as some other less satisfied reviewers note, indeed you get into your room with a keypad code and there isn’t a check in process, at least not at the evening time we arrived. We did not mind that. The room we stayed in, in the historic building, was beautiful, comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. If we were going to gripe it would be about not having coffee until the store opens—if you need coffee at 7 am plan accordingly. We aren’t going to gripe though: The grounds are beautiful and the country store (where you can get coffee and breakfast and lunch) and the tavern (for drinks and gourmet pizza) are quiet and delicious places to eat and hang out. The pond was a lovely place for an afternoon swim—better than any hotel pool for sure! Taking a walk up a nearby dirt road was an easy hike through meadows, flowers, and woods. All in all a great place to come for a quiet romantic moment before picking our kid up from summer camp.

Perfect 3 day stay. Room was well appointed, bed very comfortable. We were fortunate to have first floor suite in the building adjacent to restaurant, front deck rocking chairs well used morning coffee and evening drink. Restaurant had some unique pizza offerings as well as good appetizers - and talented bartender. Couldn’t have been better

We visited the Kedron Valley Inn six years ago in October of 2017. We were greeted with a warm welcome. We had rooms in the main house and treated as family more than guests. The people were encouraging us to sit on the front porch and enjoy ourselves. Had coffee for us anytime we wanted it. When we left we were given hugs and really felt like we were leaving a great place. Jump to October 2023. New owners, new business model. The main house has no rooms for rent. The office was in a back room off the main seating area with a closed door. The whole place seemed very formal and not welcoming. Simi helped us check in, so to speak, as we were just charged online when we booked and two weeks before we showed up. They sent an email with the keyless entry codes. She was very nice and answered questions for us. She said if we needed anything at all, just to let them know. The problem was that nobody was around if we needed anything. The rooms were nice, we had room #21 and #26. There was ample space for the most part. Only one little trash can in the bathroom. No coffee in the rooms. We were told we could get coffee in the mornings in the main building. It was a Keurig and had two water bottles for filling. When I arrived at 7:30am the coffee maker needed water, but the water bottles were too big to be filled at the bathroom sink (only water supply). I used a coffee cup and filled that and then the bottle so others could have some if needed. The first two mornings there wasn't a trash can for the empty coffee cups. I had to ask for an extra bath towel and some cups for our room, the lady in the office was not happy about having to call housekeeping. We had the impression that they were happy to give us a place to stay as long as we didn't bother them. I won't go into detail about the dead flies I kept picking up off the floor or had in the windowsills. Also, a concern was the glass shampoo and conditioner bottles. I was happy they had those amenities in our bathroom, but the glass bottles were a bit nerve wracking since I didn't want to drop them when wet. I had to take the pump out of the shampoo as it didn't work so I had to pick up the bottle when using. The front porch has a few tables and chairs on one side but they were used for people eating or waiting to get into the Tavern. We did play cards there one night because we had nowhere else to play. However, we felt like we were in the way of all the people coming and going. The porch looks great but there are no chairs that say, sit down and have some fun. We purposely spent 4 nights here because of our previous experience. We wish we would have spent more time at our two other Inn's and skipped this place. Very disappointing. Will not stay again. There are too many other places to stay that will be happy to have us.

We stopped here for a New England road trip and were amazed by the room size and quality. We had more room than could’ve asked for with a porch, upstairs, multiple tvs, king sized bed and hot tub. Beds were a little stiff but the entire place was clean and felt at home. The general store at the front was very convenient for supplies and had good food.

We had a lovely time at Kendra’s Valley Inn. Our room was very comfortable with a nice bed and linens. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The swimming pond was enjoyed by all of us from 1-60 years. The restaurant was closed the days we stayed, but we enjoyed breakfast at the store next to the Inn.

We attend the GMHA horse show very close to the Inn and this is our first choice of lodgings. Rooms are clean and well maintained. We had a package shipped to the Inn for the competition and the front desk made sure it was safe and delivered it to us at dinner. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant several times for both dine in and take out. The dates of shows book out well in advance so book with confidence and enjoy a great place.

I wouldn't call this an Inn We have stayed at a number of Inns in VT and I would not put the KVI in that category. Usually there are innkeepers who greet you. We arrived on a Sunday and the place was deserted. The Tavern was not open and it was after 2 pm so the country store was closed as well. The code to the room worked but the room smelled musty. The advertising does not match the reality. We did not stay and drove 3 hrs home instead. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for something more than a bed.

We stayed two nights in one of the family suites in January, 2022. The stay was disappointing. The room was freezing, we had a space heater for added warmth, but it did not do enough to combat a very cold night, and a very drafty room. We complained the next morning and they brought us another space heater which made a difference, though it was still not the temperature inside we would have liked. Unfortunately, overnight the space heaters shorted out the electricity in one part of the room and so it was very cold again by morning. I did appreciate their responsiveness, but honestly, in Vermont, you've got to do something about the insulation to not leak that much cold air into the room. We were up their to ski so cold is part of the package... Second, and more disappointing because of the lack of response was the lack of hot water. We tried to shower our first night, and the water wouldn't get past tepid. We called them and told them about that too, and they did nothing. Overall, our room was dated, and probably hadn't been touched in 20 years (certainly not weatherized). They offer contactless check-in, but had not sent me an email by the time we arrived (and we arrived after check-in time had started). The code they gave me didn't work for the room, so I had to go back to get another one. Not a big deal, but taking all that together, it just felt like things weren't operating that well. Staff were all friendly about it, but it was reactive and band-aid responses, rather than proactive and addressing root-causes of issues. The restaurant on site makes great pizzas, and has a great beer list. I'd recommend staying somewhere else, and eating at the restaurant.
