Great stay at a cozy hotel pub in a beautiful town. The in room breakfast supplied was not fancy, but set us up for a great day of exploring woodend. The banana bread was particularly good. The room was clean and spacious, although there's only a room divider provided to separate the bathroom with the shower/bath, so dont be surprised. We didn't need it, but if you're shy or sharing with friends be prepared.

The property was very overpriced for a basic room above a hotel. There was no air conditioning (on a typical summer day, so pretty uncomfortable), no TV in the room (one in the other room), no hair dryer and a flickering bathroom light.

I had a lovely (albeit short) stay in Holgate. The accommodation at Holgate Brewhouse is fabulous. The room was lovely and warm and the bed SUPER comfortable. Everything I needed was there – including lovely breakfast. I had a beautiful meal onsite also, the Rib Eye. OMG it was just divine, and the staff at the bar very knowledgeable in pairing a great Shiraz for me (of which I had several glasses). Honestly, I cannot rave enough about my stay and will definitely be back. My company has another project in Lancefield later this year.

Where do I begin? No microwave oven, tissues, clock radio, air conditioning, closet, hair dryer, off street parking and drawers. Poorly ventilated room, a rock hard bed, absent staff and a tiny fridge that was hard to get to. The continental breakfast for two people was stored in the room. It consisted of 4 slices of bread, some jam. butter and Vegemite, ONE slice of banana bread, three packs of cereal and three small milks. We paid $250 per night. Also, the dinner there had my friend vomiting most of the night.

Extremely expensive for an old tired property with minimal facilities. We stayed two nights in a room with no cupboard no place to put toiletries near basin, broken rubbish tidy, poor lighting in room. Nice people, good wifi, good power facilities. No radio, no tissues, shower that sprays into bathroom. BIGGEST PROBLEM - absolutely no staff available onsite between 11pm and 6am if you lock yourself out (absurd for 2022)

Ordered lunch and was really looking forward to it untill I was told cash was unacceptable. Apparently legal Australian tender is not good enough for this establishment. I chose to spend it elsewhere. Went just down the road and got some really nice food from Bourkies bakery. Absolutely delicious, the best roast lamb rolls around.

Second time visiting the holgate. This time we returned with friends. We chose the package that included dinner & a beer tasting paddle, as well as accommodation for $300. Great value really. Food was delicious. Beer is great. We also booked a brewery tour which was quite interesting & although it didn’t include samples, you could choose a 4 or 6 pack to takeaway. Rooms were very warm, which was great for a winters night. Our friends room above the bar was very noisy, & they could hear a person next door being sick ( perhaps too many beers!!) plus outside noise. Our room wasn’t too bad. Overall a pleasant weekend away, and a nice change from a night in the city
