Premier Inn Barnsley (Dearne Valley)

We have stayed here many times been 100% happy until this time. Got there at 2:30pm it was a lovely hot day wanted to sit outside the nice beer garden with a pint and food total disappointment no beer garden and no beefeater, once we checked in got to our room had a quick change went down to the bar to be told it was closed and opens at 5pm and food will be served at 6pm again disappointed, after complaining that the website doesn’t state this change the manager opened the bar and served us a pint then closed the bar again, and told us we couldn’t stay in the bar had to drink outside. the only outside area was 1 table outside the reception to drink it. So we had to sit for 2 hours in our room until it opened. Won’t be going back in a hurry, as we booked a meal deal evening meal was nice and hot, breakfast was shocking it was cold so couldn’t eat a lot of it, the bar area is small felt like a cafe not a bar area rooms very comfortable as usual no complaints there be careful of the cocktails 2 for 1 was told it was 5 till 7 again the leaflet on the table didn’t state this again had to complain very disappointing weekend premier inn need to update their website to reflect the changes and of the bar opening times.

Went for breakfast and there was plenty of choice for full cooked breakfast, continental, plenty of hot drink choice and fruit juice. Cooked food is buffet style and even had black pudding. Mix of fruit with Greek style yoghurt. Plenty of cereal options. Didn’t have decaf tea unfortunately. Loved the pancakes and croissant with Nutella. Lovely service. Friendly and polite staff. Neely refurbished decor is excellent and calming and plenty of plug points including usb for plugging in devices.

The staff were absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble. There is no air conditioning and it was one of the hottest nights of the year so not the best night sleep I’ve ever had but the shower on its coldest setting was impressively cold (does also give lots of hot water as well). Beds very comfy and good to have a fan in the room.
