Wylder Windham

My husband and I are Hilton Diamond members. The front desk staff and cleaning staff here are very friendly, professional and helpful, but there was no sign/mention of this property being at all affiliated with Hilton. (It is.) We were there on a wedding weekend (not part of the wedding) and still did not feel forgotten, which was nice. I was a bit perplexed by the actual hotel. The pros: You feel like you are not in NY (my husband and I kept thinking, where do we feel we are? Maine? Something not NY!), you can relax with the views and you are close to great off-property restaurants (recommend Chicken Run and Julia's Local). I did not realize before checking in that the "hotel" is made up of a main building and then several separate buildings (not connected to the main) so when booking, please keep that in mind when choosing a room. We stayed in the Evergreen building, which is across the street from the main building, in a non-standard room which is accessed not via a lobby but by ascending a flight of stairs, which were absolutely covered in bugs - think an entymologist's paradise. Had never seen a Daddy Long Legs in my life until this trip. While I get it, we are in the sticks (and I have been to sleepaway camp!), it was alarming to see how many webs and bugs covered the stairwell and hallway, which can only mean that the likelihood of finding these guys in our room was high. (Spoiler alert - we had bug visitors.) Does not seem any extermination or attempt at clearing the bugs goes on. The room itself was odd; as other reviewers said, no dresser and a miniature night stand without plugs or USBs (a major oddity for 2025). The AC is a wall unit which was really loud by default. I am used to sleeping with white noise, but for those who are not, this would be extremely disruptive. No phone in the room even to call the front desk; instead we were to use an app on a tablet to send requests, some of which were not heeded. No coffee maker! (I don't even understand how that's possible) and had to request a refrigerator, for which we were kept on the edges of our seats until the last moment to see if was available. To have a hot drink with tea bags I brought, my husband literally trekked to the main building to get hot water. (The staff was pleasant and helpful; this wasn't their fault.) The bathroom had very little counter space and getting into and out of the shower was not easy with the toilet right there. There was a distinct stench to the water that came out of the shower and sink. The bath towels are like gym towels - tiny. Though the property boasts being new, the signs of wear and tear and just complete lack of punch list process on the room was alarming (pics attached). I am wondering if the vibe would have been different had we stayed in the main building, but considering this was not a standard room for which we paid extra, I was not impressed. So close to home and a perfect summer vacation. The heated pool was fantastic. Lunch service offered at the pool which was convenient. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the golf course and Windham Mtn. The staff is extremely helpful and goes out of their way. E-bikes available and my husband rode one of those for a while. Low key and a good vibe. Able to walk to a great Italian restaurant and the on site restaurant also good. They have pickleball and lots of activities or you can just chill. Felt like a real old school Catskills vacation even though I live here in the Catskills. A couple of suggestions for older people like me: you have to sync your phone or other device to tv and watch whatever streaming services you subscribe to. But we do not subscribe to any and would prefer having regular tv to watch live. They helped us but it’s difficult. Also, there are beautiful Adirondack chairs on the balcony but no chair cushions and Adirondack chairs are not really comfortable for sitting for old backs, etc.

Hotel is great, lots to do and maintained well. The food at the restaurant onsite is excellent and the service was good, too. The pool was crowded, not enough chairs— they have capacity to add more easily. The setup with campfires and s’mores is awesome and laid back. They are very flexible and accommodating with pets, we were very pleased. WiFi is a real issue at the hotel , it is inconsistent and spotty even in the rooms. Overall, excellent place- highly recommend!

We had a great time at the Wylder - the facilities are nicely renovated and the location is very beautiful. Pool was fantastic and a hit with our 3-year old. We enjoyed our meals at Babblers as well even though it is quite expensive. We stayed in a "Manor King Room" which was a nice size for a family of 3. There was a fire alarm (false alarm) which woke us all up at midnight and the hotel graciously gave us a F&B credit. We definitely hope to return.

Cute place, smaller property, feels like you're stepping back in time when you check in and relax. Beds are cozy, if you have a balcony with chairs the views are great and it feels relaxing. But why is there no functional furniture in the room? When you have to place the klenex box on top of the safe in the closet, that's a sign to add some counter space. We ended up using the ironing board as a place to put our jewelry and anything we brought in the room with us, since one nighstand was occupied by an ice bucket and glasses and the other with a tablet. My husband kept his C-pap in the bed, since there was no where else to put it. Maybe a murphy fold down table or something in the wide open space would make it more functional, or something in the bathroom. trying to use a curling iron/straightener when the outlet is the opposite side of the room and no where to put it, and your make up to get ready. Bathroom is huge, products are nice, but no where to hang your towel near the shower, which could use a curved shower curtain rod so it felt a bit bigger and less claustrophobic.

Many things to say about this hotel. First, I paid $500 including taxes and “resort” fees for a one night stay. This is high for the quality of room that I stayed in. The room was described as a “stream side” queen room but I had a view of the parking lot. Also, the pictures on the website do not match the actual room I stayed in. Additionally, the price was much lower than when I booked eight months prior, but they would not honor the current lower price or upgrade my room. There is no heat either; instead there is a window unit that is extremely loud, so we certainly weren’t going to keep it on all night. Walls are paper thin too, so we heard our upstairs neighbors.
