Stayed Sat 1st Dec 2007 with my elderly mother. I booked the hotel based solely on the good reviews at Trip Advisor. I had every confidence that the positive reviews here would prove to be an honest account of the hotel and that I wouldn't be disappointed. I wasn't! My original booking was for one single room and for one double, both with sole occupancy. However, upon arrival we were both upgraded to superior rooms, both doubles. The lady who greeted us, who I presume was the owner of the hotel, was very helpful and friendly. As for the rooms themselves, well we were extremely impressed! Both rooms were very spacious, tastefully decorated and comfy, with a few little added extras that made our stay so special, such as a bathrobe, a fruit bowl, a jar of sweets, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Mineral water, DVD player and Plasma TV, branded toiletries in the bathroom, and last and not least... a big fluffy teddy bear sitting on the bed! TV reception was excellent too with a full range of digital stations, courtesy of Freeview. Although both rooms didn't have much of an outlook, the hotel is situated up a side street overlooking the rear of a retail store, Wilkinson's to be precise. This in turn meant that there was very little noise from outside, which guaranteed a good nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent, with freshly squeezed orange juice, a delicious fruit salad, a choice of brown or white toast with branded jams and of course a full english breakfast, all served to the table and cooked to order and made with top quality ingredients. To summarise, this small hotel is certainly one of the best I have had the good fortune to stay in, especially when you take into account the reasonable tariff, extremely friendly service and quality of rooms and food. This hotel is a little gem! Mum loved it too.
