Booked arrived left after 30 minutes terrible place refund given following day after a phone call to ***********. Cold room not warm on arrival tired place not good for a relaxing sleep poor beds /bedding no desk small tv no Kettle not worth the money. Ear plugs by the bed cramped room clanging pipes noises from the bar is to be expected to some degree but banging pipes thuds laughing and bar below all rooms all night projected. Lovely location just don’t follow the reviews on *********** look at trip advisor see them on here. Stayed in Whitby for the same money a million miles apart my first walk out in 57 years check the review on here before booking. A shame the place is a run down pub no idea what the food is like it looked good on the photos. More a walkers moto home venue no luxury or comfort. AVOID

Late dinner for 2, garden was full and great atmosphere. £17 each for 2 venison burgers is very reasonable! And 1 was gluten free, even better!! Staff were really friendly, food really tasty. Definitely worth a visit!!

My wife & I have been travelling over to The Horseshoe Hotel for lunch from Scarborough at least once a month for the last 10 years + I am a member of the Esk Fishing Association and pop in for a pint after fishing. I knew that the Hotel had been up for sale for the last 18 months. I checked the Hotel website 2 days ago, nothing had changed? We drove over today and arrived at 11-30 , nobody behind the bar, 1st bad feeling, bar full up with bottled stock and dirty glasses from the night before,2 nd bad feeling, eventually a young man appeared, my wife asked him if the Hotel had changed hands? Yes was the reply ,I am the Manager!! We had to ask for a menu while the Manager was eating a bowl of porridge behind the bar. We ordered sandwiches at 12-00 still waiting at 12-20, we were the only customers eating! While we were eating a workman appeared, to replace a door closure, when I queried why maintenance was going on when the bar was open and perhaps it should have taken place beforehand and perhaps the Hotel should have been closed for a few days and then reopened, the answer that I received was" we are in our peak period" ?? We have recommended this Hotel to all of our friends in N York's & Derbyshire who will read this review. I have been in Sales & Marketing all of my working life, this was not a good experience. I takes something for me to give a bad review, but here it is.

Hi, I have stayed at the Horseshoe Hotel, and I have looked at most of the comments about this hotel. I would just like to say a lot of the comments are probably not wrong, BUT this hotel has been now taken over by an amazing person, and her lovely daughter, I have known them for a few years and have see first hand there drive to succeed, I have no doubt in my mind this will be a great establishing, please give them a chance to put there own mark on it, so if you have had a bad experience I ask you to give this place and the new owner another chance and hopefully I will see your smiling face at the bar, I look forward to it.

A truly beautiful area of the country and a pub on appearance that looks ideal. But! Something wrong here 2 pints of lemonade and lime £11 yes £11!! My walking boots were cleaner than the inside of the premises. As we sat outside in a nice grass area with wooden tables someone started sanding the tables spraying dust everywhere when the pub was open and with us sat there. Words fail me, whoever owns this needs to invest in its potential. Used it before a while back but it’s lost its way
