Boffin Lodge Guest House

Bed linen was nice. Bathroom was large. Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was merely adequate, only white toast. No homemade brown bread. Shower curtain was hanging off. Roller blind in bathroom was broken and no frosted glass. Towels were tiny. No tidy service (bed not made/sink not wiped etc between nights). Felt like the whole place needed a good upgrade. Would not recommend as too pricey for what was actually on offer.

I stayed two nights here this week. I had reserved a room for single occupancy but had to pay the full amount which was for a triple room. I felt this was rather steep as I only used one bed, one set of towels and ate one breakfast each day. The room itself was well furnished and the bed linen was white and fresh. The bath towel was on the small side. The kettle and tea tray was very welcome but the provision of only 2 teabags was a bit meagre ( considering I was paying for three people). The bathroom was lovely and the shower powerful and the cubicle spacious. I was very surprised that neither the bedroom not the bathroom were tidied at all. I would expect the bed made and the wash basin cleaned as an absolute minimum. The bathroom window was directly behind the toilet so one had to keep the blind closed at all times. Frosted glass, at least in the lower half would be ideal. The breakfast was adequate. The layout looked very attractive but I was surprised to see “ shop-bought” Irish brown bread and tinned fruit. The tea and coffee was plentiful and very good. The cooked breakfast was pretty good. I ordered the small breakfast, ie one egg and one rasher etc. On the second morning I asked for some mushrooms to be added and they were. Although I should say it was as they served 4 quarters of a mushroom. The waitresses were charming and friendly. I would not stay again or recommend it as it does not represent value for money.

Room was a decent size but the bed clothes looked ancient, really old fashioned. The bed was uncomfortable, there was a constant squeaking noise from the fire door at the top of the stairs every time someone went through the door so it kept us awake, when I complained about it they said they didn't know which door it was so they wedged the fire door open instead. Didn't really get to meet the owners until we were leaving. The lady seemed friendly but the man was a bit unfriendly. Wouldn't go back

Very comfortable and large room in a local home. Walking distance to the water and to center city. The hostess was very helpful for traveling advice. Parking very close to the front door. Breakfast was excellent with much variety

we spent a night here on our cycle trip. The people are very friendly. the rooms were good. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lovely lounge downstairs to watch TV or read a book.

My wife and I stayed five nights in Boffin Lodge on our trip to Westport. It is a dog friendly hotel so you have to take it in turn for breakfast. Very cosy room and large double bed for the three of us! Short walk up the hill and over into town (15 minutes). I recommend McCarthy’s pub on the way in - old fashioned proper Irish pub. B and B is close to the Quay area of Westport which is well worth a visit. Impressive breakfast with the Boxty, bacon with honey so good I had it three times. Friendly service throughout our stay in particular from the breakfast staff and Patrica who wanted to swap her dog for ours! Highly recommend Boffin Lodge and would stay here again in the future.
