A really beautiful accommodation close to Addo Elephant park. There are breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the room, an indoor and outdoor shower in the room, very spacious bedrooms and terraces and just the perfect place to relax after a long day animal spotting! The staff are really helpful and the setting is just stunning. The food was also amazing and they put on a 4 course dinner in the evenings. It was also great value for money.

We stayed 2 nights in a superior de luxe room. The rooms are spacious, with comfy beds, chairs and huge bathroom. We also had our own pool and outside shower. The room had great views over the valley and river. Beds turned down each evening and free sherry. Breakfast is self serve cols and hit dishes to order. We booked dinner on both nights - 4 courses, choices are made after breakfast. We also went on the Addo game drive, which sets of at 8 am. It's a 25km drive to the park in a god truck. Your driver is your guide ( take your drink and poss a jacket on cooler days) . Lunch is provided by the hotel which was very filling. The road to the hotel is unmade so be wary if in a hire car, also lots of road works in the area so allow extra time.

Hitgehuim exceeded our expectation. We booked one of their new "self catering " units. It was well equipped, comfortable, and beautifully furnished and decorated. It had its own fully private, splash pool. The staff were helpfull. Nothing was too much trouble. We also used their restaurant at times. The meals were scrumptious. As birders the place was ideal. It was also in close proximity to Addo Elephant park.

Wonderful experience with lovely spacious well equipped bedroom and very comfortable super king bed. Massive bathroom and the additional outdoor shower with sensational views and your own outdoor pool was a fantastic added bonus along with the complimentary port decanter . Incredible views and great food from the dining room along with the very cool idea of being able to choose your wine for dinner from the Lodge’s underground cellar . Lovely “relaxed informal family hospitality” ambience with classic Lodge decor . The only minor criticism would be no heated towel rails in the bathroom which in late Autumn can mean damp towels the next morning ( a problem potentially solved with the evening turn down service replacing wet towels but that didn’t always work ) Any other time of the year it’s not going to be a problem . Can thoroughly recommend if you’re visiting nearby Addo on game drives.

A fantastic stay, rooms are fabulous, food was amazing, we were so full all the time! Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Edwin! We did 2 different safaris with them, they were both incredible, we saw so many animals and so close. We had the best time!

The relaxed atmosphere with superb view over the Sundays River Valley made an excellent start to three days of good food, wine and pleasure. The game drive was excellent, with absolute stunning sightings of the elephants accompanied by a picnic lunch.

We had an amazing stay here. The rooms are fabulous with great views. The food and wine are excellent. Breakfast is incredible; too much food!! All the staff are really welcoming and so helpful. My husband was taken poorly on the day we checked out. They were able to book us back into the same room and helped unload the car.........such great customer service.

A really nice place to be; very friendly and helpful staff; great food and beverages; great for some relaxing days and Addo Elephant park as private Game reserve Schotia are nere by; we will come back! The staff even helped after check-out due to a lack of air pressure in our vehicle. Thanks again for that!

This lodge is spectacular! The breathtaking views while having breakfast , the gorgeous rooms, and the fabulous dinners are only the start of an incredible experience. The staff and the owner Archie who takes the time to speak to each of his guests make this stay one that becomes a lifelong , cherished memory. Archie also drove us to the airport and shared travel stories that were fascinating, and gave us insights and tips for the remainder of our travel in South Africa which we greatly appreciated. Highly recommend!!!
