In early April 2024, we booked three cottages for our wedding in the summer of 2025. These were intended for myself, my fiancé, and our immediate family to stay in over the course of our wedding weekend. We paid over £1,500 upfront to secure the properties and received confirmation that everything was booked. Over a year later—just three months before our wedding—we received an email stating that two of the three cottages had been cancelled due to them being on "longer-term bookings until the foreseeable future." I was shocked and immediately called Liz, as it seemed unthinkable that they would cancel our reservation so close to the event, especially knowing it was for our wedding. I expressed that I believed they should honour the terms under which we booked and apply any new policy changes to future reservations. Liz was dismissive of my suggestion, claiming she had no idea what I was referring to, and responded with rudeness and zero empathy. She didn’t offer an apology and simply said we “have plenty of time to find somewhere else.” It became clear to me that they likely prioritised a longer-term, more lucrative booking over our reservation, despite having held our substantial deposit for over a year. The experience was incredibly stressful, especially during what should be an exciting time in the lead-up to our wedding. Liz's attitude and lack of basic courtesy were deeply upsetting. As a result, we chose to cancel the third cottage as well, as we had lost all trust that it wouldn’t also be cancelled last minute. To anyone considering booking this place: think twice. We would hate for anyone else to go through what we’ve experienced. In our view, they do not deserve your business.
