Even though we arrived slightly earlier than the scheduled check-in time the lovely receptionist said our room was readily available without any fuss or additional charges. The room was clean, freshly aired, and had the usual big comfy bed for a good nights sleep. There were tea/coffee facilities in the room, and any additional sachets were freely available in the reception lobby. The over-bath shower was good, with plenty of hot water, but be careful to make sure the shower curtain is inside the bath. Having forgotten the hair drier, reception were happy to provide one for the room which kept the wife happy ! There's a cafe next door to the hotel (The Hog & Hedge) offering a variety of cakes & pastries, but their opening times can vary according to how busy they are. A mini-Morrisons at the fuel station on-site is open 24/7, to stock up on room snacks or forgotten journey essentials. For those fancying a nice hot meal or a beer, try the warm and welcoming Post Inn just 200 yards along the road towards Whiddon. Even though we had the windows open during the night, there was very little noise from the car park (or maybe we just slept too well in that comfy bed?!). I would thoroughly recommend this Travelodge as a base for exploring the nearby Dartmoor National Park, and will definitely stay here again on our next trip.
