Watford (Croxley Green)

Have stayed here before when it was ok, but now one of the worst Premier Inns. Check in staff fine, but cleanliness of hotel poor. Stairs and corridors dirty, in our room the toilet pan and the floor were both filthy, bedroom floor not clean,bed was ok but some linen marked and torn. The window had been left open so room was feezing on evening arrival.Breakfast items were not kept topped up, always had to ask a man who walked around with a young child in his arms. Would not stay here again.

Always use Premier Inn Croxley Green when we visit the UK (2-3 times per year), purely because of its convenient location, but apart from that it certainly has deteriorated over the years. Clearly cleaning is not a priority now, as most of the carpets were dirty, and the edges had not been cleaned for a long time. The room was OK, the best part was the bed, which is always comfortable, but again cleanliness is OK, but if you look closer it is dirty in places, TV is very limited and did not work one day (not that it mattered to us, as we were out most of the time). We had breakfast a couple of times, but the selection was limited, especially for the price, certainly not as good as it used to be, one day we walked to Watford and used Weatherspoons. Car parking is not clear, and the reception were vague, it’s now managed by a separate company, which makes me nervous, especially as we had borrowed a car from a family member for a few days, but on the last day, the gentleman on reception had assured me everything was fine. Luckily I didn’t need to contact Customer Services, like the time before last when it was an absolute disaster, they don’t make it easy! Overall – average, but far from a good standard.

Welcome was ok as I arrived, my experience didnt stand out. A few more smiles from staff members would have been appreciated - Everybody looked incredibly serious in manner! I was farewelled by my name when I checked out and wished a Happy New Year. I requested a quiet room on the top floor and appreciated it when my needs were met. The place looked tired and outdated compared to mother Premier Inn’s. The breakfast/ restaurant next door was very tired looking and I expected something quite modern. The rooms were a little old and in need of some tlc as also a little tired. Good parking facilities and having a Morrisons nearby was handy! Thermostat controlled heater had a mind of its own and wouldn’t heat up room - probably why a second free standing one was provided? On arrival one of the batteries were missing from the control and I asked for another at reception. The room itself had a lovely view overlooking the front court. It was relatively quiet. The bathroom had disgusting brown stained marks in the toilet and this was not a good first hand impression. I mentioned this to reception and it was noted. Three quarters of the stains had been removed a couple of days afterwards. House keeping team were generally very friendly and smiled which was nice to see. I received quite a few bites on my feet when checked out of my room??!! Overall, a little sub-standard considering this was a Premier Inn hotel and I have stayed at quite a few on business/ leisure up and down the country! Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return based on my experience.

The person at the desk was not helpful. We didn't know how to register the car or find the additional car park. He waved his arms and said register the car over there, and didn't show us actually where to do this. My husband asked where the additional car park was and he again was very vague. Very poor service. He was sitting in the room next door to reception but kept my husband waiting around too. The room had not been hoovered for months, the hallway carpets were in the same condition, really disgustingly dusty. A previous occupants sock was under the desk, so I know it wasn't cleaned. My husband slept on the sofa bed or the additional bed and had bug bites in the morning. I will not stay at a Premier Inn again.

I have stayed at a few Premier Inns and never been less than satisfied Croxley was very tired from the outside, there was rubbish entering the hotel. The stair well were dirty and there were tea and hot chocolate like stains on the stairs edges. The bed was smaller than normal We had to ask for coffee and tea and water glasses
