Fantastic first experience of going on safari , staff very knowledgeable , rooms were lovely, food was amazing Could not find a fault

The best safari experience. The guide Sunesh ( sunny) went above and beyond to make the experience the most memorable, his knowledge of nature, birdlife and wildlife was amazing . His happy personality shone through to truly give everyone the most enjoyable and amazing experience. An absolute credit to the team. The food was exceptional The staff amazingly helpful and happy Everything was clean and fresh The whole ambience was exquisite A place to definitely revisit

Because of heavy rainfall the reserve we had booked to stay at became impossible to reach due to washed out roads. We were therefore offered Safari Plains as temporary place to stay until we could access our place of choice. The manager a staff made us very welcome and worked hard to ensure we had a good experience. The luxury tent rooms were fabulous and comfortable and very private. This was a bigger lodge than the one we’d chosen but was not busy and therefore quiet and peaceful. The drives and guide (Ben) was interesting, fun and knowledgeable and we experienced a good introduction to a Safari experience and the beauty of South Africa. We also met a wonderful SA couple who we shared our drives with which increased the enjoyment of our experience. Sundowners were some of the best parts of the day. Because of the unusual high rain fall we never got to our original destination but Safari Plains turned out to be a happy replacement. We were lucky with the weather which stayed dry for the duration of our week but beware that February, although in the summer season, can be stormy and wet. We were lucky with what we saw, seeing 4/5 of the big five but the bush is very green which makes spotting game more difficult than in the dryer month. We did not feel short changed in anyway though with our experience. I’d say this was a good introduction to a Safari if not done one before. It’s given us the taste for more!

My stay at Safari Plains has been memorable - the lovely private tents with great facilities, the wonderful food and friendly staff and the pool area near a watering hole where we were lucky enough to experience a herd of buffalo coming to drink. The outstanding aspect of the holiday were the twice daily safaris. Our guide, Sanesh, was so likeable, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about all the animals and birds. His enthusiasm was infectious and we thoroughly enjoyed our trips out in the Land Cruiser and looked forward to the next one. Sanesh was determined that our group would see all the wonders that Mabula had to offer and we saw all the animals we had hoped to see plus many more. It was with great sadness that our stay came to an end and I hope one day to return to this wonderful place.

This was a real 5 Star stay! The whole experience was awesome! The Tents are very comfortable, so was the bed. The bathroom was well designed and equipped. The Lodge main area was beautiful and very cozy. The food was delightful, and the meals were generous and served to perfection. As for the staff, we can only say that we got the best service ever!! Well done to all and thank you for the wonderful stay. I highly recommend this Lodge!
