Oscar's on the Yarra

A group of friends celebrating dual birthdays stayed and played at Oscars on the Yarra and attended the 'Thai inspiration in the Yarra Valley' degustation dinner. This proved to be one of the best meals I've ever had....a marriage of Thai flavours blended with the finest ingredients of the Yarra Valley. Just superb. The chef, Mark Krueger, and his team produced a stunning six course meal that was exquisite. The accompanying wines from Hoddles Creek were a match made in heaven. The ambience of the homestead which is filled with Art Deco pieces is lovely, peaceful and relaxing. The rooms are on the small side, but have great beds and everything you need and the 2 lounge areas are big enough to accommodate a large group for relaxing around the pool table or pre dinner drinks. Little private balconies are terrific to curl up in a chair and read and watch the Yarra river bubbling past. The extensive gardens are filled with majestic oaks and tall ghost gums. Couldn't recommend Oscars enough for the romantic weekend or just for their restaurant and enjoying the astounding talent of chef, Mark Krueger.

We were cycling from Woori Yallock to Warburton along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail. Oscar is just along this trail on the Warburton Highway. We had eggplant chips and risotto. They are beautifully presented and delicious. Services are excellent. The manager voluntarily introduced the place to us, knowing we just past by and not sure about dining there. To our surprise the river view, setting, environment are amazingly beautiful.

This was a last minute booking, for a quick road trip with no research! I looked at the cheapest option, relatively nearby to the Healesville sanctuary! In the way I was a little worried I’d taken us off the beaten track.... Well well well so very impressed, we have been welcomed with open arms even with a 2 year old and a 3 month old! (Who would want us) What a beautiful place! Quaint and beautiful what a lovely lovely place. Room is lovely, clean, nicely renovated, large bed & bathroom. We are dining in the beautiful restaurant, small & simple menu yet trendy, that’s absolutely Devine! 5 star dining in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Beautiful food!! Absolutely gorgeous and amazing, and tantalizing every taste bud!! The chef has truly made this the most delicious meal and menu! We have had the most enjoyable experience! Feeling so welcomed by this family run establishment, where they make a point to visit their guests and introduce themselves make sure that the patrons are happy! This service is hard to find these days! After a long day at the sanctuary we are looking forward to putting our heads on the pillows! We look forward to breakfast in the morning! I can’t recommend a road trip to visit at Oscar’s On The Yarra!

I spent two nights at Oscar's on the Yarra, from 11 to 13 December, and had a truly pleasant experience from start to finish. The hotel, built in the 1920s, exudes old-world charm with its heritage style, elegant details, and welcoming atmosphere, reminiscent of the elegant country estates in Agatha Christie adaptations. My room, though small, was meticulously clean and thoughtfully appointed. The added touch of coziness and vintage ambiance gave the place a character all its own - both timeless and inviting. One of the most pleasant moments of our stay was spent on a balcony overlooking the hotel's peaceful scenic grounds and the Yarra River. It was such a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring, to enjoy the quiet surroundings, and to hear sounds of nature. Each morning began with a fresh, delicious breakfast, thoughtfully prepared and served with great attention to detail. Dinner with Christine and Jason was equally delightful, and the engaging conversation made the experience even more memorable. Many thanks to Christine and Jason for their warm hospitality and wonderful company during my stay. Their friendliness and dedication to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment made all the difference. I had a fantastic time and look forward to visiting again.

I will be back. Brilliant location for exploring the quaint country towns of the Yarra area. The owner, Christine, was so welcoming and beautifully accommodated our crazy hour of arrival and late night grazing board needs. Breakfast was abusively delightful. The room clean, comfortable, and well laid out with a great little private verandah to enjoy the mountains and trees. The main outdoor deck overlooks a green landscape of big old trees and a lovely river running through. Be a great couples getaway, friendly, romantic, private. 🫶

Stayed at this beautiful place as part of a wedding party. Aside from the property itself being gorgeous and appropriately outfitted for a place of this age (expect some things a little rustic, thats the charm!) the hosts make the stay amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and no question too intimidating (not even what boards did you use on your decking!) Amazing trees in a beautiful lawn facing onto the yarra river. Will be back.
