"Stay in Ambadi’s Villa was wonderful. Excellent service and great staff. Staff were really helpful and friendly. The room was well equipped, clean and spacy room. From the balcony, we could view the sea and feel the cool breeze. I loved the calm atmosphere.

We had a really lovely stay at Ambadis Villas. The setting on the Cherai backwaters was spectacular, tranquil and timeless. My sister and I had escaped from busy jobs and this was the perfect place to unwind. The owners Shaiby and family are the perfect hosts, and are very welcoming, helpful and kind. We understand that there are a number of returning guests every year who have become very attached. The breakfasts were all local dishes, well planned and delicious. We chose to have other meals there too as it was so perfect. Yoga and ayurvedic massage and consultation are available if desired, and a pool overlooking the backwater for cooling down. After a week here, it was hard to leave, and we feel we will be back!

Running out of superlatives to describe Ambadi’s Villas: situated on the peaceful lakeside, backwaters of Vypin island, this is truly a haven of peace and tranquility. The owners Ambadi and Shybie are wonderful, friendly and welcoming. A range of Ayurvedic treatments are available in house, including massage, Pulse Dosha readings, and yoga . Breakfast, the best ever, is included, Fruit and Keralan dishes, my absolute faves being appam, or idli, with coconut chutney and sambhar. You can also arrange to eat in the evenings, delish southern indian food, the feast served on banana leaves, with lots of tasty little dishes. Shybie can arrange whatever you need: ordering an auto tuk-tuk, for trips into Cherai or the wonderful Madras Cafe in nearby Paravur, our wonderfully helpful and friendly driver Sibeesh, was a font of knowledge, or a car for the day to take us to Alappuzha, with house boat for a peaceful day on the waterways, lunch included. One day I remarked on Shybie ‘s beautiful Kurta, the next day I was whisked into Cherai town, to meet her dressmaker, and bought some lovely individually designed dresses, and had some little dresses made for my 4 years old nieces. All bespoke, beautifully made, very reasonable. Upstairs rooms are lighter, have a rainfall shower, and a small balcony. We loved the downstairs rooms, perhaps a touch more modest, but very comfortable, with a bigger terrace, looking onto the lovely gardens, and waterside, with the Chinese fishing nets. We even had a sunrise boat trip round the nearby canals from Ambadi’s private jetty, with a local fisherman, also showing us his solar powered fishing net set up. You can ask for a kettle to make your own tea, but it’s so easy to pop round to the kitchen and ask for a masala chai, or, a discovery for me, masala coffee…. Spiced real Keralan coffee, all served by Mahesh, who seems to be ever present to attend with food, coffee, tea, and lighting the evening incense to ward off mossies, and any little worries you may still have. I can’t wait to get back to the perfect peace that this wonderful home stay brings.

Wonderful experience at Ambadi’s Villa, the balcony was perfect for an evening in. Great location, beautiful expansive area in front right in front of the Cherai beach. Special mention to Aswin, who provided excellent hospitality. Definitely have the delicious breakfast of Kairali cuisine

A place close to my heart. Truly a home stay....I am tempted to call it my second home. Such is this place. It's the surrounding that stands out with it greenery, get woken by the morning birds. Authentic fresh local Kerala food. Rooms looking to the backwater and a view of the sunrise. Very Importantly quiet. And the world class hospitality by Amadi & his family.
