Great mountain retreat. A really excellent 4* hotel and spa outside the highest village of vilaflor in tenerife. With a few tweeks it could easily have been a 5* experience. Easy car parking on cul de sac road but no help with luggage, just one person on duty at all times. We had a terrace room with a hot tub which included a good-sized bedroom and a sitting room. The bathroom was big, twin basins, with a shower over a jacuzzi bath. With the amount of room, it would have been nice to have had a separate walk-in shower, and the taps on the bath didn't enable it to be used by two people. Surprisingly, the bathroom was not supplied with shampoo or conditioner nor any tablet soap. There wasn't anywhere to hang robes and towels near the hot tub or jacuzzi, and the shelves had not been dusted. The sitting area had a TV, a fridge with bottled water, nespresso coffee, and a kettle. Nice dining area in a conservatory which had patio heaters required in January. Pity the windows weren't cleaned well. Adequate breakfast with cooked items to order. Lunch and dinner were the same menu. Generally, very good food and excellent staff. Pleasant lounge area but no bar and difficult to order drinks. We couldn't find any information about the hotel and its history nor much about vilaflor. Discovered the star gazing night at the hotel by accident- but it was a great experience. The spa and pool in the basement was capable of opening to the outside but not in January! And it was a little too cool for us. There are several nice walks into the pine forest and across the valley to the village and the "big pines." Two or three day-time cafés in the village but we didn't find anywhere near to eat in the evening. I hope my comments are taken as constructive criticism, which could probably be dealt with by management. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return for longer next year.
