39 St. George

I have to firstly say that the room on the whole was great, lovely bed and well equipped bathroom (Room 5) However, there were a few things that let it down badly: - nobody to meet us, we ended up having to ask a cafe next door how we got in and they pointed us to another cafe over the square who they said managed it. When I went there it took him 15 mins before he let us in. - we were put in Room 5 which for some reason has a connecting door (locked) to room 4, however there is no soundproofing between the door, so we could literally hear everything next door were saying and doing!!! - the bathroom / wc is lovely, but it’s open plan and is like an echo chamber, even after being married for many many years, you still want a bit of privacy, do I need to say more!! We were booked in for three nights but left a day early and booked our final night in Floriana.

This is a fabulous B% B. It is much more than that! we stayed in the Penthouse, which s an extremely well furnished and equipped accommodation, with separate lounge and sleeping areas and a lovely terrace overlooking ST. George's Square, It is spotlessly clean and a cleaner comes in every day and does a detailed clean. Breakfast is taken across the road at the Grapes, where hot and cold options are available. The owner and staff are extremely helpful and friendly and helped to make our 4 night stay extremely comfortable. We initially booked for 3 nights but added a 4th as we were so happy to be there It is very centrally located and easy to get to bus station and places of interest, notably theCitadel

This is a luxury bed and breakfast NOT a hotel, so you cannot expect a concierge service (a previous reviewer was shocked that there wasn't anyone to arrange a taxi for them). If you require a taxi I recommend Gerry Formosa on gerry@gozo-taxi.com - his team are very attentive and accommodating. We used Gerry for a cab from the airport to Rabat/Victoria and that was 75 euro and a cab from R/V to Valletta and that was a little more, as you have to pay on the return ferry crossing. Back to 37 St. Georges Square, I can't fault it at all. The rooms were large, spotless, in good decoration and had a separate shower away from the bath. Breakfast was very good and available in two of the bars/restaurants on the square.

+ fantastic location right in the center of the city + nice building, well built/restores with attention to details + big room (we had nr 2, facing the square, 1st floor + easy check-in / check-out - the bathroom could use some upgrades (shower door doesn't stop the water, not enough place to put your stuff)
