Hôtel-Restaurant Victor Hugo sits right along the river Our at the bridge of charming Vianden: the ideal location to enjoy all this storybook Luxembourg locale has to offer - incredible views, awesome hikes, an imposting castle, plentiful eateries and bars. The entire staff at Hôtel-Restaurant Victor Hugo work tirelessly to offer warm, courteous, guests-first service in a welcoming inn with very affordable rooms, many with outstanding views of the riverside and the chateau. Dinner in the restaurant was one of the best meals we had on our walking tour of the Benelux region. We highly recommend being guests of this gracious establishment.

What a wonderful visit we had at this hotel in Vianden! Great views of the castle, the Our River and the town right when you walk outside the front door. Nice service. The restaurant food is quite amazing, too! Very charming and old school. I had some trouble with the key at times--old locks--but what a lovely experience overall!

We enjoyed a stay at this gem of a hotel. Location is wonderful on the river & we had a lovely room on the corner overlooking the historic centre & river. Would highly recommend for families, couples or single travellers . Staff were friendly & the restaurant served great food.

We had a lovely double room on the top floor (312) which was obviously recently renovated, with a nice view of the river, and also the castle (this latter only from the bathroom however). The room was let down however by poor quality bedding and towels. Be aware if you travel by car that there is no hotel parking, and parking is very difficult in the height of summer. We can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't dine in at all.

The hotel enjoys a central position in the middle of town. There is free parking in a small car park in Rue Victor Hugo about 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Not an especially warm welcome on arrival, there was no one on reception when we arrived outside to get information on car parking locations and it took five minutes to find a server in the cafe. On return the receptionist who had now reappeared was working on her computer and failed to acknowledge us for what seemed to be several minutes. We choose a junior suite which was in a separate building adjacent to the hotel that is shared with private apartments. This was a large modern room with balcony. Bed was comfortable with good shower although lacking slightly in furnishings given the size of the room. Breakfast the following morning had the usual selection of food, although the only hot option was scrambled egg and unusually nothing much in the way of pastries. It was the only hotel on our trip that charged separately for breakfast so at €12 each, we would only describe the breakfast serving as adequate.

We were passing through Vianden during a small heat wave. Temperatures were in the 90°s Fahrenheit. So, I booked a room here because it was advertised as having air conditioning. When we got to the front desk, I was told only “superior” rooms have air conditioning and ours did not have that. They said there was a fan only. All the “superior” rooms were taken so we had to sweat through the night. I know many places in Europe don’t have air conditioning, but this place advertises that it does. It just doesn’t have it for everyone which is conveniently left out of the amenities list. I booked using *******. They called the hotel manager on my behalf after I tried and management refused any form of compromise. This place is probably fine any other time except when it’s hot.

Nice little place. The 1 person room is like a dorm room with 2 twin beds (my company booked us wrong). They felt bad for us and upgraded us to rm 302 after 1 night and it was great! Be prepared, no coffee machine in rooms and be sure to bring your own soap, shampoo and conditioner (provided stuff is Spartan). Traffic and night party noise is intense when windows are open but that’s part of the “atmosphere”. Restaurant is very nice and an older crowd. Overall it is a great stay. We’ll be back.

So! A fabulous setting! Amazing, witty, friendly staff, locals and dogs! Great views, fantastically brilliant food (the cauliflower soup is amongst the best soups I have ever, ever had, including Michelin starred ones, and the traditional smoked pork and beans was utterly, utterly beautiful). They have a couple of electric car charge points too! Please, make a stop to eat and sleep here, you will not, I promise, be at all disappointed.

Lovely hotel by the river in the centre of Vianden, couldn't be more ideally situated. Plenty of choice for breakfast, the seeded bread is delicious. Lovely bedrooms, very clean, however, the towels are like sandpaper!
