Albergo San Marco

Perfect in every way. Excellent location just a few steps from Piazza San Marco. Room was spacious and clean, with temperature control in the room. Bathroom tidy and newish. Staff were very helpful. Our flight was delayed but the restaurant staff waited for my group and served us an excellent meal (a la carte) even though it was past their closing time.

We have stayed here previously, before the refurb and were very pleasently surprised. The refurb was excellent throughout the hotel. Our room was modern, clean and spacious. New bathroom, with only one quibble, the shower cubicle could have beed a little larger, but we understand that there are space restrictions. Air-con in the room was easily controllable. Nice clean bedding and plenty of pillows. Totally revamped breakfast / dining room. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice including bacon and eggs, cakes, cheeses, fruit, bread and croisants, salad and a good selection of tea and coffee. No rushing guests out, have a nice leisurely breakfast, which we did every morning. The girls in the breakfast room were very professional and polite, and friendly. They also provide dinner on an evening, and there were always guests sat in there. We booked in a little later than anticipated, and the front of house guy, Amin was very understanding, friendly and professional. Couldn't fault him in any way. Check-out was easy and we left our luggae until mid-afternoon. We found the cost of the hotel very reasonable especially when you take into account the location, 2 minutes from St Mark's Square. We would recommend this hotel over and over again. Thank you for a lovely stay, and we are booking again for end of August 2025.

Cute hotel the rooms looked good and they seem to have renovated them, what made it amazing was its location. The cons have to be rooms that are extremely tight, terrible internet and wifi connection, they dont provide any support with bags.

I stayed here for 2 weeks for my birthday and enjoyed my stay. I received a lovely handwritten birthday message with a bottle of prosecco...a wonderful gesture and so appreciated. Comfortable stay and a quiet room with a window overlooking the canal. You have to lean out the window and down to see the gondolas going through. The actual view is of a building on the other side of the canal. The hotel is in a great location and being central it was easy to walk everywhere. I would recommend to put down that map and casually walk around and you'll always get to a bridge or the canal...and stop into the odd cafe or restaurant enroute. There were a couple of hiccups the first couple of days but the staff really helped and sorted out the slow air-conditioning and placed a kettle in the room. Everything was comfortable afterwards. POSITIVE: The breakfast was really great and much better than in the 4-star hotel where we stayed afterwards. Rooms very clean. Hotel very centrally located. NEUTRAL: When we arrived in the evening and asked if drinks could be bought here, we were referred to the associated "supermarket" next door. We were in this one before and asked where the hotel was. They had NO idea!! The market was closed and so I walked a good 100m to an ice cream parlour. On the day of departure we found the minibar with drinks. So we wouldn't have had to go out to buy drinks. NEGATIVE: We had frozen at night!! The so-called blanket was just a kind of better tablecloth and clearly much too thin given the low temperatures in the morning hours. It was also unfortunate that not each of us had a "blanket", but one together. If one curls up in the "blanket" at night, the other lies there without. Rooms without air conditioning. Up to this point I was willing to give the hotel three stars. BUT: A visitor's tax of 4.50 euros per day and person is a brazen rip-off!!! In our later 4-star hotel we paid 1.50 euros. So I only give 1 star.

Ideal location. 5 minutes walk from water bus drop off. Surprised the hotel doesn't have an iron for travellers. I also wouldn't pay €8 for the breakfast. There's nice cheap eateries within the streets. Around good experience
