Hotel Walram

Excellent hotel in a perfect location. We visited as part of a Parry’s coach holiday. The hotel exceeded our expectations it was modern, elegant and clean. We stayed half board and the food was lovely, always 2 choices for dinner. I am a vegetarian which was well catered for. Our room was all that we needed, modern, clean and functional. The bathroom had a walk in shower. There is tea and coffee provided. We brought milk from the supermarket located adjacent to the hotel. The bar is beautiful and drinks are well priced. Overall fantastic stay and we will be returning in the future.

This hotel is very well situated for visitors to the town, especially during Christmas week when I visited, I was one of a coach party and the Christmas market is a stones throw away. I must also mention that there is Christmas market in the Caves as well, really worth a visit and only a short walk away. The caves are worth a visit at any time of the year. The hotel reception area, bar, restaurant and food are really very nice. English speaking very pleasant and helpful staff. Now as for my room. It was tiny even for a solo traveller - example: If you want to stand in front of the bathroom mirror to comb and dry your hair, be prepared to bang your elbows 😂, our rooms (I spoke to several other passengers) were old and very tired looking, although clean enough. Beds, I've had better.

This was the second time at The Walram…we went Pre flood in 2017 as part of a Parrys coach trip. We had an enormous room then and reasonably good food….this time we had a poor very small BASIC room though it was front facing. We knew the hotel had be given a facelift and the public areas were smart and inviting. The food however was much improved. Lovely breakfast spread and the evening meals were served to us. Drinks were on the pricey side and water was €4.50 a flagon on a 2 for 1 system we never worked out ! The evening entertainment was naff and too loud and some guests were very noisy in corridors upstairs..but it was Christmas. Valkenburg is a lovely little town with a wealth of fine buildings and plenty of smart shops but in December is spoiled by the tacky Christmas Market in front of the Walram.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. Lovely hotel and great location. Parking nearby. Very handy for the Xmas markets and also the cave markets. lots of things to do in the lovely part of the NL. Great breakfast and plent of it! Highly recommend.

Lovely small hotel right beside one of the Christmas markets. The public areas were very nice and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The buffet breakfast was very good, with lots of choice. The evening meals, part of our half board package, were not overly exciting, but pleasant and well cooked. The only slight negative, despite very comfortable beds, was the room was a bit basic and could’ve done with some TLC and repair of the damp patches.

Lovely clean & very comfortable room. The shower was amazing it was very powerful! Although it was very clean there was an awful smell which I think was coming from the shower drain and there was no window in there to open unfortunately but the fact that the complimentary toiletries were from Rituals made up for that…the beds were twin beds and very comfortable but as I’m asthmatic and have to sit upright to have a comfortable sleep so I called reception and I requested another couple of pillows and was told I had 4 which I said well we are 2 people so I only had 2 but she wouldn’t listen and just kept saying “ Well you’ve got 4!” Said she would speak to housekeeping but they probably won’t give you them as “you’ve got4!” I gave up after that and had to put clothing rolled up under my 2 pillows. Anyway this my third stay at this hotel and definitely would return. The breakfast was lovely all it was busy but most hotels if not all them usually are… We had dinner here for the 4 nights we stayed and as there were only 2 selections for the main but that’s also the norm when on a coach trip and there was at least 4 coaches staying there. We were given tables to sit at for I stay that weren’t thought out at all as there was a few people with mobility issues, myself being one of them and a friend whose a wheelchair user and having the part of the dinning room which you had to go up steps to get to especially when you’ve got plates of food & cups of hot drinks to carry. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would say all but the one on reception that I called for the pillows definitely wasn’t Valkenburg is an amazing place and this hotel is perfectly positioned for exploring this beautiful city
