Udaigarh - Udaipur

Great location for the City Palace and Jagdish Temple in the bustling historic streets of the old city. Close to shops and lakeside restaurants. The hotel staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The roof terrace and restaurant was everything you could want with a perfect view over the lake. We had a regular room which was spacious and a good size bathroom.

Great location with wonderful view over the lake and the Lake Palace Hotel. Very clean and pretty rooms. An easy walk to the town and tourist sites. Very kind and helpful staff, who allowed use of a spare room when we turned up very early on the overnight train from Jaipur. Recommended as such good value for money.

Fantastic hotel in Udaipur. Most amazing views of the lake from the beautiful pool/restaurant area. Himanshu was very welcoming and helpful! Lovely room - very clean. Large bathroom… the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Perfect location as main attractions in walking distance.

Location - yes you need to walk 5 mins or take a short Tuktuk because it’s in the old city. The location is great though - 2-3 minutes to city palace or down to the old ghat by the lake. Lots of great shops and tailors nearby. Rooftop - really nice rooftop restaurant with good food and service. We arrived after dark and it was great to enjoy the view of the lake, city palace and the city. Decor - the rooms are nice. ‘Heritage’ rooms don’t have views but are nice size and design. We were in standard en suite, comfortable enough (though we had to move rooms after first night due to the mattress). Pool - this was cool, towels provided, and what a view. Staff - the team were brilliant - responsive to requests and fun on Holi itself. Price - pretty good, we thought, for what you get. It’s not a five star hotel. The rooms all open onto central open landings and not all guests respect early bedtimes and late lie-ins - and I mean foreigners too. Overall we had a very happy stay. Thank you!

Hotel in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of everything. Great rooftop pool to relax and watch the sunset after a day of exploring. Bright, spacious rooms, (worth noting the times of the hot water- morning and evening to ensure a lovely hot shower). Due to the nature of the building and location, you are able to hear some local sounds- light sleepers might benefit from earplugs. Delicious and plentiful breakfast, (highly recommend banana pancakes) again with the wonderful view!

Pros: 1. Convenient location in the heart of Udaipur, close to popular attractions 2. Relatively clean rooms with tea and coffee making facilities 3. Stunning views of Pichola Lake from the rooftop 4. Helpful staff who genuinely strive to assist guests Cons: 1. Not disabled-friendly or senior citizen-friendly 2. Taxis cannot reach the hotel entrance; guests must take an auto-rickshaw and walk the last 100 meters 3. Dirty road leading to the hotel with occasional animal feces 4. Lift access requires climbing a few stairs 5. Restaurant is located on the top floor, which is not accessible by elevator 6. None of the rooms have a view, and some rooms lack proper ventilation, leading to persistent odors 7. Street dogs may bark at night, and nearby hotels may play loud music, disrupting sleep 8. Staff appears to be untrained in customer service and hotel management 9. Lack of a general manager 10. Apparent disconnect between the hotel and the restaurant 11. Restaurant staff may not seem friendly or accommodating 12. Absence of a manager to address customer concerns 13. Staff lacks adequate training to handle senior citizen or general customer issues Overall Recommendation: I would recommend this hotel with caution, considering the mixed reviews and potential drawbacks. The hotel's convenient location and helpful staff are its strong points, but the lack of accessibility, unpleasant surroundings, and inconsistent service could detract from the overall experience.
