The pillows are rock hard as are the beds not the place to stay if you have any health issues. The staff are unfriendly and not very helpful, we only met a few who were cheerful and seem to be enjoying working at the hotel. The leisure facilities are a trip around the car park to enter the leisure facilities as long as you have booked. A member of staff on reception did not like anyone asking questions about the pool, she rudely interrupted her colleague as to why I was asking about the pool depth and access. I have a spinal condition which can affect my ability to stand, that was why I was asking, she was just rude throughout our stay. Don’t expect to experience fine dining as the meals were nothing spectacular, although I must say the lemon tart was very lemony, no room service order and collect it yourself. Unfortunately the staff and lack of a warm welcome lets the hotel down as does the rather drab entrance to the hotel and reception area, which considering the age and grandeur should wow you as you enter, especially as this is December and the large Christmas just stood on its own. The house its self is beautiful and worth visiting, as is the setting unfortunately it just lacks the wow factor that makes you want to return. Not one I will be recommending to my friends and over seas family.
