Clarion Hotel the Edge

I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and would recommend this hotel because of -its location. While the bus is kr26 offpeak and 48 at peak) being able to walk to most places is important to me. -its cleaniness. (Slightly dated in some part of room, but no stains on bed linen, no moulded bathroom) -helpful staff including checkin, conference, and housekeeping -good view (may depend on the room type and floor) -wonderful breakfast -good temperature control (18-20 degree Cel) in the room - wooden floor in room (cleaner than carpet) -no bad smell at all even in bathroom - tea and coffee are always available in the lobby. Though self service, still feel warm and welcoming from the freezing outside. - a little desk for working / writing plus a coffee table for other stuff. Two chairs are also included in this compact room which all come in handy. - wifi is available for free - a restaurant is available for dinner if you get hungry anytime after 4pm. I often feel rejected when I didnt make a booking in this town for dinner. So this hotel restaurant can be your safety net. Tips from my point of view: -Room is quite small even i booked a double room. Looks like a compact room to me. But i accepted since I travel solo and was happy about the view. If you care about the space, do go for the bigger rooms. -those hooks in the bathroom can rarely hold the towels without falling on the floor. You will need to think of ways to deal with this. - there are no tooth brush and tooth paste for free. Bring your own, or buy them here. -you may notice that things in this town is quite expensive. No exception for this hotel. This is the most expensive hotel room that I have ever paid for in my life. This money is more than normal 5 stars hotels but please manage your expectation... It's all relative. Since this was the best fit for me among all the hotels here, i still chose this. -there is a lugguage room open access to other customers too. So be prepared to hand carry anything valuable rather than leaving in the luggage room if you are careful. - the weather here in winter may not be very welcoming for someone from the warmer part of the world. So having a good hotel and room is one of the main reasons that I can feel safe and warm here in Tromso. -

Location was absolutely perfect. Central to everything and was across the street from my ship. Room was the perfect size for one person. Temperature was too hot in the room and no way to turn it down. Woke up boiling in the middle of the night Breakfast buffet was awesome! Had dinner one night. Had the hamburger and fries from the menu. Very tasty but I felt the portion size was small given the price. Restaurant staff would not allow me to take my food back to the room. I would recommend this hotel because of the location and price.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Meanwhile it also provides quality buffet breakfast. But the room keep being dusty even though all the windows are closed. Overall, the hotel provides us an excellent environment to stay with.

Terrible experience!! The room is facing black internal structure which looks like chimney or kitchen waste gas emission outlet. This is the worst hotel room that I have ever come across based on my extensive travel and business trip experience! I cannot believe such room type can be used to accommodate any hotel guest! The hotel has not clearly stated that this is the type of scenery that hotel guest will "enjoy" if they made the reservation as consumer should have the right to know before reservation what they are paying for. Even worser than that is the strange "tuck" noise one can clearly hear when the TV is off which repeat nearly every 5 to 10 minutes! I have hardly slept more than three hours per night during my three nights' stay in the hotel. In addition, rim of the toilet bowl has numerous obvious cracked lines which can easily hurt hotel guests when it is broken and can cause un-imaginable consequence. I regret very much that I have not booked Radisson Blu or Thon as recommended by my colleagues.

Conveniently located, walking distance to Arctic cathedral. Breakfast is excellent and very good spread . The front desk staff on 4 Oct early afternoon morning is extremely helpful. The Bristol staff whom I have placed order for early breakfast has forgotten to register my order and this front desk gentleman is kindly to help and give me the breakfast in time for my departure.

Welcome coffees and chocolates are unlimited provided at the check in desk. Convenient self call Taxis by kiosk next to check in desk. View is very good Check in staffs give me welcoming feel. Helpful to answer my questions.
