Aluasun Lago Rojo - Adults Recommended

We stayed for 3 weeks on a half board basis, there was always something to eat, I found most of the food to be very good, some people complained that the food wasn’t hot enough for them… there is microwaves that you can use! All staff we encountered were excellent, happy to help in any way they could, and always had a smile for you. I didn’t get the names of the two excellent ladies on reception (one blonde with bob style and one with glasses and short hair, both there on our check in) along with Connor, the 3 of them seemed to be there 24/7. Also the bar/ waiting staff worked extremely hard, the young lady with long dark hair and glasses was so friendly and bubbly. Housekeeping always greeted you and kept the rooms clean, bedding and towels changed on request. The hotel is situated close to the shops, bars, restaurants and beach (a minute walk from the rear entrance of the hotel) Benalmadena Marina or Torremolinos seafront is around a mile walk from the seafront behind the hotel. Reception are happy to arrange a taxi or order a mobility scooter if you require one. A short walk from the front of the hotel is a main road, where you can take the bus to various different places, Mijas was €1.75 and took around 30 minutes. Overall, we enjoyed our time at this hotel.

Booked a 3 night trip with TUI on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner). The check in was easy and staff were very friendly. The room was big and didnt feel very clean. Got clean towels and linens every day but the floors werent cleaned and we had a kettle but never any coffee or milk (i brought my own). The pool areas were good, especially the roof top pool and bar for all day winter sun. Drinks around €4. Some nice menu options for lunch but we were out and about during the day so just snacked and then had dinner in the restaurant. The dinner is served at 6pm until 10pm. Its very busy early on ans there was a queue out the door so its better to go from 730pm onwards. The best thing about the hotel is location. Beach, shops and restaurants on the doorstep and only 10 min walk to train station and Benalmadena

Close to beach out of back gate . Close to bus stops for either direction ,out front of hotel turn right then 1st left up some steps. Leads you to main road. Clean hotel with very attentive staff esp maids. Rooms cleaned daily and water left daily. If you want your sheets changing there is a card you leave on the bed. Kettle in room 3 lifts. Very small but nifty. My personal opinion on the food buffet style was very poor. Cold food. Unlabelled so you don't know what it is and staff not English speaking. Evening buffet starts 6pm and drinks are brought to your table once ordered and you pay when you are leaving that evening . Comfy bed. One or two english channels. WiFi throughout hotel bur poor on out balcony room 234 Ask for pool facing room. The ones facing the road have bins outside amd they are emptied around 3 am in thw mornings. Very Noisy Safe for 1 week is £24 but you get ten euro back. Rooftop pool is freezing but the area and bar are very good. Gets busy so by afternoon there weren't any loungers. Adult only and older people were main guests. Poor entertainment for 2024 really. Singers dancers etc. Starts 9.30pm

The hotel itself is in a really good area. Close to the beach and lots of local shops and eateries. Really spacious room and very clean. Staff on reception were really friendly. Unfortunately and I’m genuinely not fussy but the food was awful. We went half board and were only staying for 3 nights but we attempted 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. Dinner options weren’t great and to be honest we couldn’t find anything to eat. Breakfast was better but compared to lots of other hotels I’ve stayed in it was just ok and we ate out instead. I would go back as the hotel was well situated but wouldn’t want to pay for any meals.

I wouldn't recommend the Junior suite if you want a full night's sleep. Bin collection is done daily and we were woken every night at various times ranging from 2am- 5am. Even with the balcony door closed it was very loud. We did not sleep all week (a room switch was refused). Room was basic with a fridge. TV had no signal to watch anything. Kettle and tea in the room, no coffee. Safe costs extra. Iron and ironing board can be requested. I had to request shampoo/shower gel as only the top of the pump remained in the shower. Buffet was tasty. Several options. Different food each night. Chef is available for allergen queries (ask to be sure as they had food incorrectly labelled when we were there). Chef also cooks fresh eggs in the mornings and meat/fish in the evenings. All the chefs were very friendly and helpful. All the waiting staff and bar staff were nice too. The bar staff make lovely cocktails. Some of the reception staff were very helpful, others not so much. We got great information from two evening staff. Daily evening entertainment was very good. Nice atmosphere in the bar area. The hot-tub on the roof top was also cold. They attempted to fix it but it remained cold. Overall disappointed with our stay at the 4 star hotel. Lack of sleep and basics in the room overshun the friendly staff and entertainment.

On arrival the reception staff advised us to "go eat". Our room was ready and we wanted to get to our room to put away our cases after a long day of travelling. We requested a high floor room but we got a junior suite on the 1st floor which was overlooked and on the main road. When we asked about a room upgrade, the information we got from Reception was abrupt "you booked a junior suite you need to upgrade if you want a different room", whilst no further information was given about pricing for upgrades. The air con was also not working and there was a balcony light which was never on when it got darker. Halfway through our stay, our key cards also stopped working which meant we had to get new cards at Reception. Two days before we checked out, we asked Reception about booking later check out (as our transfer was early evening) and we're assured there would not be an issue booking it but we needed to come back on the same morning we were checking out. When we asked Reception on the day of check out we were told by a female Reception staff that it was not possible as the room needed to be ready by 2pm. The hotel was also not "youth friendly" and I'm pretty sure I was the youngest guest at 30 years old (as most of the guests were 65+ years old and most were Dutch expats). On a positive note, we would like to thank Christian at Reception who was very attentive to our queries.
