The coaches parked outside our room. They were parked side by side, rear towards the building. When they arrived in the evening, they ran their engines for thirty minutes while stationary. When they did the same thing the following morning, again for thirty minutes, I asked the staff if they could have the drivers move away for switch off. The drivers said the buses can't be moved for thirty minutes and that they were hybrid so were not emitting any fumes, so they were not moved. The noise and fumes were very unpleasant. It is otherwise a very lovely comfortable place to stay, the staff and meals are excellent. Be careful though to avoid the rooms where the coaches park outside...

Very tired and dated. First room we were given (150) was over the boiler and so noisy there was no hope of sleep. Asked to be moved but initially told the hotel was full. But we were given another room miles down a dark cold corridor, never saw anyone in the other rooms. No view as the window was obscured with a frosted film. One radiator not on at all, lights over the bed didn't work, no heating or hot water one day and evening. No heating in the bowls arena for most of the time we were there. When you first turned on the cold tap hot water came out! Very, very squeaky bathroom floor, dated bathroom. Bed made ever day but room not cleaned. Miles of corridor to get anywhere, often cold .Main rooms chilly, most ate with jumpers or fleece on, my nice clothes remained in the wardrobe.On the positive side the food was good although all cold deserts, would have liked a hot desert. Breakfast good. In our case large comfy bed but that was not the case for some of our friends in their rooms. Didn't live up to the photos on the websites.

A brilliant staycation. Lovely, spacious, comfortable room with sea view. Lovely leisure facilities swimming pool steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Great vegetarian options and surprise Christmas gifts. Great price and afternoon and evening entertainment.

We have returned today from a turkey and tinsel 3 night break.. our rooms were great. The food absolutely fabulous, the chef needs congratulations. Thank you. What i want to say is the Tinsel bit. We arrived on what was "Xmas eve" at that point very little sign of Xmas, few trees and decorations. None in the dining room, Christmas day, more boxes and decorations and staff appeared. yesterday "boxing day" more again.. our final night and this morning more trees/ decorations appearing. If when we booked months ago, had we been informed the hotel decorating would occur during our stay, we would of booked for later in the month. As we left the hotel today it begun to reflect turkey and tinsel theme.

Pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Booked a 4 night break, D. B&B The hotel was very clean, the service, especially in the restaurant was very efficient. All staff were pleasant & helpful. We could not fault the evening dinner, lovely hot & fresh meals with a good choice & plentiful portions. The bedroom was large, seemed to be fairly newly decorated & the ensuite bathroom also seemed quite new with a lovely large walk-in shower. Only thing wrong was a very uncomfortable mattress. A bargain for the price paid.

We had room 146. Absolutely shocking you couldn’t swing a cat in there. The window sashes rattled in the rotten window frames. Heated towel rail. Asked to change room and was told all rooms were full. Friends we had gone with had a huge room with a terrace. Feel the amount we paid for a 3 day break should have warranted a better standard of room. Thus one was not basic to say the least. On good comment the food is excellent.

The Toorak has got to be the best hotel in Torquay what makes it great is that it is part of a 4 hotel complex and you can use all the facilities ie games room and spa so there is lots to do. All of the staff in all departments was very friendly and professional. We booked for 3 nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate which I highly recommend as the food is amazing! The chefs home made fudge is very delicious at dinner every night also so we purchased a few boxes from reception on check out. On a rainy day we used the spa and booked a few treatments through out the day. I had Louise who was amazing at my Aztec treatment- 30 min facial and 30 min body scrub. You don't feel rushed one bit in the spa it's very relaxing. The entertainment in the evening is very good gets very very busy and packed out which shows how good it really is . that's by the derwent hotel side, opposite the pool. Loads of seating area through out the hotels for playing your games in the evenings and a few bars for ordering drinks at also. Such a lovely atmosphere all through out. So sad to end our trip as it went very quick. We will most certainly be back :)

Although the hotel is quite dated and could do with a little TLC I could not fault the cleanliness, service and above all the food which was absolutely brilliant with plenty of choice and really nicely presented. We used the bowling facilities and also the sports centre and swimming pool on the days we couldnt bowl outdoors because of the weather We were really looked after and I would not hesitate to return in the future.

My Son has some preferences on meals to eat; hence I only opted and advance paid meals for 2 upon arriving at the Restaurant; Soup was bland hardly touch the whole starters; and rather than only me and my daughter eating I ordered a Plain Fish (w/o any sauce) however it arrived with the sauce to my dismay. still we tried a bite. to make the matter worst The Large Lady Host told us I had to pay the whole 2 course Meal for my Son since it comes as a 2 course Package £28 not Inc Drinks I would have tried to finish our meal but after the first bite; the insult been inbedded in my brain couldn't eat anything at all I paid the whole 2 course meal despite only had a bite. may I advice a full Customer relations training for the Hosts as the Damage would be detrimental no doubt for future Patrons.
