Hotel Playa Cambutal

This hotel is quite literally perfect. We went for two nights ith our 6 year old and 3 year old and everyone had a great time! The rooms were comfortable and ours opened to a little balcony overlooking the yard and beach. We spent lots of time on the beach and when it got too hot, retreated back to the pool which was mostly shaded. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We will be back again soon!

This hotel is the center of the small Cambutal community and a very welcoming spot for tourists and locals alike. The beachfront is popular with surfers, and you can see many locals in the early morning and late afternoon with their families enjoying the waves and sand. The restaurant offers free wifi, is family friendly and is open to the public, so hotel guests and locals meet and enjoy the surprisingly good food and drinks offered by the well-trained staff. Tuesday is pizza night, with lively music and drinks at the beach bar to watch the sunset - and the whole community turns out to join in the fun. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the community is very respectful of the opportunity. The pool area is reserved for guests only, and offers a quiet retreat from the sun, either on a shady lounge chair or under the beautiful pergola shaded with bouganvilla. The grounds are lushly planted with local flora, and you will see many local birds and the occasional iguana. The 10 guest rooms are simply furnished but all have oceanfront views and balconies, where you can dry your wet clothes/ towels in the warm sun. Beds are comfortable and firm, towels are plentiful and thick, housekeeping is available daily and the staff is always willing to help. We stayed for 2 weeks and were treated more like family than guests. We will definitely be back!

We love the Hotel Playa Cambutal! The staff is amazing, pool is perfect and the beach is beyond amazing. The food is great, clean and fresh and you can drink the water out of the faucets which is amazing as well. We frequent Cambutal and this is definetly our go to hotel

Such a gorgeous property, unpretentious and healthy restaurant and great staff! Epic surf break right out front. Thank you to everyone who made our stay comfortable and memorable. Cessi on the wait staff was so patient with our horrible Spanish and always took care of us with a smile. We appreciate the kind service and lovely meals.

Best place to stay is n Cambutal. Everyone is welcoming and kind, food is great, and location is perfect. Waves right out front and the pool is shady enough to use in the heat of the midday. Staff was awesome. Would highly recommend!

The place (location) is wonderful, for a good get away, Hotel isn't bad, except for the beds, those are hard as rock! my sleep is everything, we booked two nights but we could only stay one because of the beds, I probably wouldn't mind if we could enjoy the beach but the weather didn't help much, non the staff. Staff was not helpful, not friendly, they didn't speak English but I do speak Spanish (I was there with my Canadian friend and children) I was translating all the time which is not a problem to me, but seems like they didn't understand Spanish either. my friend ordered a beer with salt (michelada) they said NO, simple No to her, they didn't make an effort to make it happen or explain why the answer was no... lets give them the benefit of doubts ... They just couldn't understand my friend and I wasn't around. They couldn't make a simple cocktail, even when you give them the recipe, you could see in the bar they have the ingredients, they just limit to say "we only got whats in the menu" ... next day, I woke up very early, ordered my breakfast, everything in Spanish "Un Americano con leche fría aparte, un desayuno de la casa y un jugo de maracuyá" I was seating on my own and the girl settle the table for two people, I though she was expecting my friend to join me. when the food comes, it was as I ordered but she bring an extra breakfast... (the american breakfast), I asked what was that, she replied "El americano" I said, thats not mine, she said YES you ordered, I said no I didn't and I repeat to her my order (all this in Spanish) I know she got confused about the American coffee and the American breakfast but from "Café to Desayuno" there is a huge difference LOL. she didn't say, Im sorry I got confuse, but she give me a bad look, like if I was bothering her. LOL. Anyway, everyone was up and complaining about how horrible their sleep was on those hard mattresses, how poor the internet and cable TV connection was, and electricity went off 3 times. We decided to head back to the first place we were before in Playa Venao. We didn't get a refund for the night we didn't stay but we didn't ask for it. I message the hotel as I've left something behind, perhaps they could mail it to me, I was going to pay for it to be mailed... I am 100% where it was left, so I mention where it was, room it was, and even send a photo of the article and they said nothing was found. strange that they couldn't make an effort there either. The place is on a retire Paradise, but the service, the food, the beds is not good for the value that was paid.

The hotel meets american standards. The room had a nice decoration with a beachfront view that inspires relaxation. Food was good but I've suggested to serve more typical food from the region which is not cholesterol free, but so good. Bilingual staff very friendly!

Beautiful location, nice hotel and a great beach…staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was very nice and comfortable and overall we were very happy there. As far as the food offered, the breakfast was excellent, especially the Spanish tortilla. We didn’t have a lunch at the hotel but had one supper, which was ok. Good fish tacos, not so great a chicken dish my wife had, but, hey it’s a beautiful space and who cares lol… We had a supper in the village the next evening and recommend to give a try to Peruvian Black Perl (not Pearl :) close to Cambutique clothing store. Good food and unbelievably friendly owner/ wife team. Loved it. Next year, if we can, we will come again and hope the experience will be as fabulous as it was a few weeks ago.
