"The hotel is impressive when you arrive, amidst the greenery, parking lot, and lobby with columns and beautiful flooring. Then you get to the check-in desk and notice that one of the staff chairs is completely ruined. Go up to the bar and restaurant area and notice that the beautiful lobby flooring has disappeared, completely covered in carpeting. Some of it is no longer snug, but creases make it a tripping hazard. You take the elevator to your room, and the hallways "greet" you with a "splendid musty smell"—carpeting everywhere, walls with almost plastic/fabric wallpaper, and the rest of it wood. The smell is very strong. You enter the room, and it's half the size of the one you booked. You step out onto the balcony and notice that it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. I ask the front desk about the room and the state of cleaning, and they tell me they don't have rooms like the one I booked, but they offer me the option of changing rooms. I see the second one as very large but with an even more persistent "stale" smell than the first. I see the third one as smaller than the first but with a less persistent smell. I'm keeping this one. The bed is very comfortable, but the balcony is as dirty as the first one, both on the floor and the bathroom window, the ceiling, and the walls. The bathroom window is impossible to open, the bathroom door has a broken handle, the shower splashes everywhere, the bidet faucet needs fixing, and the bathtub is "black" (see photo). The cleaning of all the rooms is very basic. The building was built in two phases, the first in 1967. Perhaps it needs a major renovation or at least maintenance and cleaning. The breakfast is average but with little variety for a 4-star hotel. I'm adding a few photos to give you an idea. This hotel has a "4-star" name, but..."

The internet may not be the best solution, even trying to access other connections, we had to have TV connected to have the internet, and the air conditioning was not strong enough for one of the people, I did not need any more but I understand that the other person felt more affected."

"The hotel is right on the main square. I had a room facing the square and it was marvelous day and night. Room was very comfortable and fairly large. Service is very well meaning. At this time the restaurant and bar seem very much up in the air. The excellent Praça Seafood restaurant has been replaced by, I am not sure what. They were out of most of the entrees and the bar seems closed. They did however bring me a gin and tonic from the pizzeria next door. Odd."

"I can't say enough wonderful things about this hotel. It's located in a lovely park (though you can still access it by car and the parking spots are right in front of the hotel). It has a small spa which I enjoyed all to myself one evening. It has a dry sauna, a cooling pool and then an outdoor small pool with jacuzzi jets. My room was lovely and had a BIG balcony where I could sit and watch the sun set through the park trees. The breakfast was curated but top notch. Very good cheeses, large variety of fruit. There was also eggs and meat, yogurt and dairy alternatives. What is wonderful about their dining area is that you have an lovely view of the parkland (usually hotel breakfast rooms are in the basement). I've stayed in other "4-star" hotels in Portugal and they're pretty average. This hotel was great. It was sparkling clean and the service was wonderful. I happened to leave something in the hotel safe when I travelled on to Porto and the man at the front desk went to the room right away, and had it forwarded to another hotel I was staying at in Lisbon and took great care to ensure I received it before flying out. If you want a quieter boutique experience, this is the place. It's centrally located and walking distance to everything in Tomar. I loved that it was located in a park. I thought it was very good value and was easily the best hotel I stayed at in Portugal. I stayed at other 4-stars that were nothing special."
