"The facility is new and well-organized. We had the all-inclusive plan. The staff is very attentive to guests' needs and caters to every request. The cuisine features oriental flavors, but with the right approach, you can ask the chef to accommodate certain requests (cooked separately without garlic, special requests). The food doesn't vary much, but given the location, I'd say you can adapt. Breakfast offers plenty of choice. We had a great time; there's a pool for relaxing. The rooms are clean and welcoming. Clean linens are provided daily."

"I'll mention the only downside right away: the hotel doesn't respond to calls on trip. The number listed is for some surf school in the Maldives. I was able to find contact information only through people who had previously stayed at this hotel. Otherwise, everything is very good. It's a fairly quiet street, and there are no construction sites nearby. The only noise is from a neighbor's rooster 🙂 Pleasant indoor area. A table next to each room. Bicycles and snorkeling gear are available, so it's convenient if you don't have your own and don't want to buy one. Breakfast is either continental or local, and the fruit selection varies. Everything is delicious; I didn't get tired of it after four days. The location is closer to Sunrise Beach; another one is a 15-minute walk away, so it's not a deal-breaker. Overall, the hotel is excellent."

"What a fantastic guesthouse! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, exceeding all expectations. I was shocked that the price was so low! We were so pleased that they greeted us with a coconut and explained everything, and when we were leaving (the transfer was at 6 a.m.), they asked us what we wanted for breakfast and even got up and made sandwiches for us. SUPERB SERVICE, a real shock in a good way :)"

"We stumbled upon Ambra Maldives while staying elsewhere on the island. It looked new, immaculate and appealing, unlike many other establishments on Thoddoo. We ended up having lunch at Ambra every day, thanks to its proximity to Bikini Beach. The friendly general manager showed us one of the 6 new villas, which can sleep up to 5 people. Ambra has only been open since April 2025 and is operated by a team who have experience in some of the well known Maldivian resort brands such as The Four Seasons, which generally adhere to a much higher standard of tidiness and cleanliness than what we saw elsewhere on Thoddoo. Ambra is part-owned by Italian investors, and this is reflected in the menu, which features a number of Italian specialties that would have been good for dinner, such as Chicken Cacciatore and Lasagne. For lunch, we stuck with the delicious tuna burger, falafel flatbread and Caesar salad, along with blueberry smoothies and bitter lemon. (Authentic Italian pizzas would a nice addition to the menu.) It was a relief to have chilled water provided free of charge; our guesthouse only provided water at ambient temperature (i.e. 28C+), which wasn’t appealing, and no other beverage options besides tea and coffee. If we were to visit Thoddoo again, we’d definitely look to stay at Ambra Maldives, which is close to but outside the town centre and closer to the beach than any other places we saw. Well done, team Ambra, and keep up the high standards!"

"The hotel is new, with high-quality renovations in the room, including plumbing and electronics. However, there were no adapters for the outlets. But the hotel renovations weren't fully completed. The staff was friendly and listened to our requests. The manager is very involved in the hotel's operations and attentive. Cons: 1) the breakfasts lack variety, 2) the towels aren't washed well, which makes them smelly, 3) the room cleaning wasn't thorough; they simply swept the floor, changed the towels, and made the bed. In other words, the bathroom and plumbing weren't cleaned. I also noticed that my manicure set was touched during cleaning."

"We were in this really nice hotel from February 27th to March 10th. The hotel staff were great, the cleaning boys were great, the restaurant 10/10, the chef 12/10 :-))) The food was really tasty, they even prepared something special for our 2 year old daughter (pizza). There are bikes with child seats which are practical for getting to the beach (about an 8 minute bike ride). This was our first time on the island of Thoddoo and our really pleasant stay at Hakuna Maledives meant we would love to come back again."

The service was truly impressive, from the owner to the buggy driver, and even the bellboy who also doubles as the chef and cleaner. Everyone was warm, helpful, and attentive. Mr. Ali brought us for a farm visit, where we enjoyed fresh fruits by the beach..such a unique experience! He even gifted us a wahoo fish, which was absolutely delicious. For the comfort, hospitality, and experiences provided, the price is definitely affordable and worth it. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the island!"
