Over rated hotel. Very average food. Nice swimming pool but poor seating arrangements next to pool. Could not sleep because of machinery noise in room 304- told because of malfunction in kitchen extraction fan! Excellent hotel manager moved us to a silent room. All the staff extremely friendly except the barman who refused ice cubes for our room & wanted me to pay!!!! Charged for water on the dining table!!!! This hotel takes mainly coach loads of foreign tourists so has got a bit lazy & sloppy.

Svatma Thanjavur is a truly lovely resort, meticulously curated by an architect with an eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the region’s rich heritage. The hotel is a visual delight, with every corner thoughtfully designed to reflect the cultural and architectural splendor of Thanjavur. From the exquisite carvings to the elegant interiors, Svatma is a testament to the beauty of traditional South Indian design, offering a serene and immersive experience. However, it’s heartbreaking to see that this once-stunning property has begun to show signs of neglect. The asset, which was once the pride of Thanjavur, is now slowly deteriorating, with maintenance issues becoming increasingly apparent. It’s as if the hotel’s soul is still intact, but its exterior is beginning to fade. My heart bled seeing the state of this beautifully put-together hotel, which now feels like a shadow of its former self. Despite these concerns, there is still hope for a turnaround. The essence of Svatma remains strong, and with the right care and attention, it could be restored to its former glory. Someone urgently needs to take a close look and breathe new life into this architectural masterpiece. Svatma Thanjavur deserves to be cherished and preserved for future guests to experience its full potential.

This was a real gem we discovered thanks to trip advisor. Such a serene and charming setting with food and hospitality to match. Mr Mohan who runs the restaurant took particular trouble to look after us during all our meals at the resort. Perfect place to unwind in the evenings after sightseeing or temple hopping in Thanjavur.

Svatma is a great place to stay. The hospitality, staff and the food is top notch !, my son and I were visiting from the US and had an amazing stay at his property. Balaji is terrific and guided us very well on the attractions, taxi service etc. Tanjore n Svatma are a “must do” if you plan to visit temples in Tamil Nadu.

Svatma is a piece of history restored with love & passion. Nestled in an unassuming locality, the property reveals itself like a pearl in an oyster. The warmth of the staff is unmatched. Thank you Mr. Balaji for the utmost care towards your guests. And thank you 'Bernard Shaw' for paying special attention to our meals. Mr. Mani who drove us around Thanjavur in a property car is an absolute gentleman. We have been very grateful to all the people we crossed paths with here. We recently organized an event at Svatma, Thanjavur, booking half the hotel, and the experience was exceptional. The service was impeccable, with staff attending to every detail with grace and efficiency. A special thanks to the Manager, Mr. Muthukumar, for the smooth facilitation of our event. His leadership and dedication were evident in every aspect of our stay. The food was exquisite, offering a delicious array of local and international cuisines that delighted our guests. The rooms were spotless, beautifully decorated, and exuded an old-world charm with stunning antiques that truly captured the spirit of Thanjavur. The hotel's ambiance is a perfect blend of tradition and luxury, making it a must-stay for families, friends, and solo travelers alike. Our short one day visit at Svatma Tanjore was excellent, filled with memorable experiences and definitely recommended for any traveller finding a relaxing getaway at a refined hotel. From the moment we entered Svatma, we were made to feel special and welcoming by the staff .Their smile, attention and warmth made our day. The Heritage property exhudes serenity and is well kept and breathtaking with majestic paintings adorning the walls The pool is hygienically maintained and can boast of clear pristine water. The rooms were tidy, clean and sufficient amenities were provided, although the washroom was slightly smaller than expected from a 5 star hotel. Special shout-out goes to the restaurant at Svatma (Aahram), which electrified our culinary experience for lunch, dinner and breakfast thoroughly. Thanks to Mr.Muthukumaran ( restaurant Supervisor) , who was proficient and knowledgeable about anything on cuisine.He made sure that we were served what we asked for , adding more to our taste buds.The chefs were equally cooperative and enthusiastic to serve the special dishes( local South Indian) that we hankered for a long time. They have a Spa too worth a try with special packages though we missed it out. We thoroughly recommend Svatma to anyone looking to stay at a lovely hospitable getaway in the great city of Thanjavur.

I recently stayed at Svatma, a top-notch antique resort close to the Big Temple. They offer free yoga classes, and I was thrilled to join. It was incredibly calming and refreshing for both my mind and body, which was my favorite part of the stay. Plus, they serve delicious vegetarian food, and the rooms have a unique ancient vibe. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
