We were booked into an Urban English Style Room, Ground Floor. However, the room we received was downstairs from the ground floor and below ground level by approximately half a floor. It was not a ground floor room in my opinion. It also felt like this room was not used very often and several items did not work in the room. We had the following issues with our stay: 1. The television did not work. When we complained, someone tried to replace it and failed. The repair person had to bring in a second TV which was placed on a desk. 2. The hot water in the shower did not work. When we complained this was corrected. 3. The room felt very damp. The air conditioner did not work properly and did not remove the dampness. Opening the window helped partially. 4. The shower door did not close properly and the floor in the shower was flush with the rest of the bathroom resulting in flooding in the bathroom every time the shower was used. We were forced to use the hand-towels to avoid flooding into the room. 5. One day they forgot to clean our room. The front desk had to call someone to come back to the hotel to clean it. We had to wait in the lobby for almost an hour for it to be cleaned. 6. There were no facial tissues in the room. When we asked for facial tissues, we were provided with a stack of napkins. 7. The stair leading down to our room had a shopping cart with clean/dirty laundry on the landing during the day that we had to squeeze by to access our room. Also, on a couple of occasions there was a staff person on the landing when we passed by. The staff person made no attempt to move the cart out of our way. 8. The staff/public bathroom was right next to our room and we could hear it being used during the night. It also smelled. Some of he items were addressed when we complained, however, there were too many items to complain about. It felt like we were staying in a neglected unused room and we had an unwelcome experience. Management was blaise and did not seem to care. There were no apologies when we complained and resolutions seemed to be provided reluctantly. There was no response when I sent an email to management expressing our disappointment in our stay. We have stayed at another Brown hotel and had an amazing stay. However, I would recommend that this Brown hotel be avoaided.
