Blue Thistle Cottages

Spotlessly clean, thoughtfully furnished cottages provide a touch of heaven. So very comfortable and quiet. Nice fluffy robes to take the chill off. And lots of small touches like motion sensor nightlights and board games. Kitchenette is very well equipped. Could not ask for more. Highly recommend. And the stars are brilliant without any light pollution.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue Thistle cottages. The home had beautiful scenic views of the mountains and a lush garden to take it all in. The hosts are very accommodating and the cottage had everything we needed for our stay. 5 Stars all around!

Recently, my wife and I stayed five nights at Blue Thistle Cottages. Blue Thistle Cottages is on a peaceful property but is only three kilometers away from Te Anau Town Centre. Maggie, who is one of the owners, met us upon our arrival and was an excellent host. We stayed in Cottage 2, which has one bedroom, one bathroom, a living area, and a kitchen/dining area. The cottage was clean, comfortable, functional, and nicely furnished/decorated, and we had a parking space right next to our cottage. On the front porch are a table and a couple of chairs. The backyard is nicely landscaped and has a picnic table and a couple of Adirondack chairs. It also has a nice view of the mountains. My wife and I are particular about our accommodations when we travel, but we have nothing negative to say about Blue Thistle Cottages. Our stay there was most enjoyable, and we highly recommend these high-quality accommodations to anyone visiting Te Anau!

I stayed for 2 nights in the 'Cottage 3 - Sunset' unit. What an incredible gem in Te Anau--one of my favorite places I stayed while roadtripping through New Zealand! I highly recommend the cottage I booked, as it seemed to be the most private of the 4, although each of the cottages looked great! I appreciated the warm welcome/cottage walk-through when I checked in. I was able to park right outside of the cottage, which was convenient as well. The cottage was immaculate, SO well-equipped (with NICE items too, not cheap utensils or appliances), and very comfortable. The A/C worked well. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large, and the shower had great water pressure. The blackout blinds and curtains throughout the entire cottage were also top-notch....no light coming through at all! Cute outdoor furniture is provided to enjoy the view of the mountains and sunset. Such a quiet, peaceful stay. I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful place. Would stay here again in a heartbeat, and I recommend these cottages to anyone who is staying in Te Anau. Thank you for your hospitality!

Lovely accommodation just outside of Te Anau. Quiet and peaceful. Stylish and comfortable interior with beautiful landscaping outside. I loved sitting on the front porch in the afternoon sun and then watching sunset over the mountains from the same location. Wonderful, relaxing stay. Highly recommend,

We loved our stay at Blue Thistle Cottages! We were warmly greeted by Maggie, and shown to our cottage, which overlooks beautiful green pastures with cows. It was a gorgeous, quiet setting. The cottage itself has everything you need, and is spacious, very clean, tidy and comfortable, with a real country homey feel. The beds are comfortable and rooms quiet. It's about a 10 minute drive into the main town (so you'd need a car). It was a refreshing stay that feels like you are at home, after staying in a view hotel/motels just prior.
