Travelodge Hotel - Taunton

I’m giving this a 2 star because it was the worst hotel I’ve ever visited I’ve only stayed at 5 hotels one being a different travelodge and it was great and I enjoyed it.. But this one is a no go unless your not bothered about dirtiness noise and homeless hostile then stay here! There is no warning but they allow homeless people to stay here right which wouldn’t be a issue but they treat it like there home they are banging the door open and closed every 10 mins very late at night all night long going outside the front smoking and drinking not very security safe as well clearly the people at reception don’t care although they were friendly and welcome when I got here but there’s no warning on there website about the homeless situation and it made me feel very unsafe to be honest just because of the smoking and drinking.. another thing I’d like to point out is the dirtiness the cleaners were mopping floor in main reception when we got here which was great and it smelt clean but there’s no lift in this place so it’s not accessible for people that can’t get up stairs or if you have a lot of luggage to walk up there the stairs also look fairly run down BUT nothing really bad but my concern was my room the duvet had a orange stain on which was fresh so my partner sat down and he was in a expensive white shirt and now it’s stained orange and ovbs can’t clean it till I’m home!! There was a grass hopper in the bathroom there was a DEAD spider that came out of the towel on the bed and the floor wasn’t very clean they have no air con and give you a fan that you can’t even feel and the windows don’t open all the way due to safety reasons so can’t get a lot of air in the bed is decent it’s not the best but not the worst Another thing is they use a robot hoover to do the cleaning which seems great and all but ovbs this thing can’t hoover great and they clearly don’t check and go over as like I said floor was filthy wore my shoes the whole time unless I was in the bed it’s by a busy road and maybe it was just my luck but there was lots of noisy cars and motorbikes going up and down up the car park though itself is spacious it says limited but I don’t think It is at all as don’t see it ever getting busy There isn’t a restaurant here either so don’t Expect any breakfast but there’s a Starbucks and Sainsburys over the road in a retail park and a walking distance about 14 mins is a harvester is also a pub much closer but food options are expensive and poor I won’t be coming here again and I’m very disappointed with my stay here as I thought travelodge were fairly decent for money but hey ho

As a wheelchair user who booked an accessible room, I found this stay had both positive and negative aspects, with serious accessibility and comfort issues persisting. Parking and Building Access The car park was excellent, offering free parking with adequate space for wheelchair users. The lobby was properly accessible and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The doors were much easier to navigate than expected, making independent access manageable. Reception and Staff The lady on reception was particularly lovely and made the check-in process pleasant and straightforward. Her welcoming attitude and willingness to help made a positive difference to the overall experience. Room Quality and Accessibility Issues The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was more spacious. However, serious accessibility problems remained. I was provided with twin beds rather than a double, which is completely inappropriate for disabled guests. The beds had an awful design, sliding across the floor during transfers from my wheelchair, creating a dangerous situation. The beds were narrow, uncomfortable, and far too firm, making a decent night's sleep virtually impossible. The mattresses caused muscle cramps and discomfort throughout the night. Bathroom Facilities Whilst the bathroom was big and beautifully clean, it was equipped with a shower over a low bath, which is completely inaccessible for wheelchair users. There was no bath board provided, making it impossible to use the facilities independently. This is a fundamental failure in what is supposed to be an accessible room. Noise Issues The hotel appeared to be operating as dual-use accommodation, with a significant number of social housing guests present. Throughout the night until four in the morning, there was constant noise from people walking about upstairs. Only exhaustion allowed me to finally get some sleep. External noise was equally problematic. The proximity to the M5 motorway meant constant traffic noise, requiring the windows to remain closed despite wanting fresh air. Additionally, there was a cruise scene with boy racers and motorcyclists with loud exhausts racing around the local streets, adding to the noise pollution. Local Area There is no on-site restaurant, but a retail park is conveniently located nearby for shopping needs. There is an expensive pub within wheelchair reach, though dining options remain limited for the price point. Overall Assessment Whilst this Travelodge showed improvements in parking, lobby accessibility, and staff attitude, the core accessibility failures remain unacceptable. The inappropriate twin bed arrangement, sliding bed safety hazard, and inaccessible bathroom facilities demonstrate that the chain still doesn't understand the needs of disabled guests. My family and I stayed here to break up our travel to Cornwall. Despite other reviews, the hotel exceeded my expectations. Family rooms are very spacious and come equipped with a kettle cups and a tea/coffee set up and was very clean. All staff I encountered were lovely!

Reading the other reviews after I had made my booking, I was apprehensive about my stay, but my room was clean and my stay was pleasant. No people hanging around and no evidence of the hotel accommodating homeless people - which I don't have any problems with anyway! My night was very peaceful and I would return should the need arise.

Welcomed warmly by staff member who kindly moved my room so I nearer to my friend. The room was very clean, everything was working and all you needed provided. Well done to all the staff.

Found this Travelodge to be easily accessible and friendly. Very clean and comfortable. It was located in an area of convenience for what me and my family needed. We used this Travelodge as a stopping off point before continuing our holiday to Cornwall. It had everything we needed was comfortable
