Residence Terra Rossa Taormina

Stayed here for 11 nights and we were so happy with the decision. The staff were incredible, our host Giovanni gave us some excellent recommendations during our stay, and makes his own Sicilian wine which is fantastic. The views were amazing and pool area was very nice and relaxing. Room was cleaned every few days to a high standard. The location is only an issue if you are not happy to take cabs into Taormina in the evening. Otherwise it is a short 10 min walk down to the beautiful Isola Bella beach, and 10-15 minute down from Taormina in the evening after dinner. Highly recommend!

The view from our balcony was absolutely stunning, one of the best in Taormina and such a treat to wake up to every morning. The location was perfect, with walks down to the beach or up to the vibrant town. We took the cable car the first night, but then walked the short ten minutes up hill the rest of the week. For the location, it’s fantastic value. The immaculate gardens are magical and the pool and terrace overlooking Isola Bella perfect for chilled afternoons. The accommodation is simple and comfortable, the staff are friendly attentive and made us feel well looked after. The large free car park just a few minutes walk away was convenient. We were lucky to have 24°C sunny days the last week in October, it seemed the perfect time of year to visit. I would highly recommend trips to the Valley of the Temples and to Savoca, the picturesque village where the Sicilian scenes from The Godfather were filmed

This place is magical; the garden is like paradise. The view from our balcony and from the pool area was just breathtaking. The staff were nice. Location was good with a short walk to the town centre and an equally short walk to the Isola Bella beach. A special thank you to the staff for keeping the swimming pool open during November. I enjoyed swimming every day for 2 weeks. I’m so happy we chose this hotel for our stay in Taormina. If we return to Taormina, we’ll choose this place again.

First of all the positives: It is a very attractive residence, with good views. The room was spacious and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good buffet breakfast at 10euros, where you can eat as much as you want. No hot food, but a good continental selection. Negatives: The pool side only has (uncomfortable) metal deck chairs. No loungers at all, so not possible to lie out in the sun comfortably, and certainly not on your tummy. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable and the pillows like rocks. It's two single mattresses on a double bed with nothing to hold them together, so they are constantly slipping apart and you fall down the crack in the middle. I didn't sleep at all well throughout the whole week. The air con isn't brilliant either - not very powerful. As other reviews have mentioned, it's not really set up for self catering, so I only used the fridge and kettle. It's the first "self catering" place I've visited where there wasn't a welcome pack on the room, even if it was just some water, bread, cheese. Nothing. Also, these places usually have some "standards" left by previous people, such as salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, washing powder etc, but there is nothing. Yes - it's location is halfway down the hill so there are a lot of steep steps in either direction, which I didn't mind, but if you don't like going up a long flight of steep steps, you can walk DOWN to the funicular, visit the town and then walk DOWN the steps back to the residence, so there are ways around avoiding an uphill struggle. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, however I had a very late lunch while I was out and about and then just made a sandwich or snack in the evening, so again, there are ways to work around this.

Absolutely amazing location! You can find a good deal to spend your nights in Taormina if you are a couple. Our room was small but comfortable .Beautiful Pool with an amazing view on the Mediterranean and stays sunny till late in the afternoon. The breakfast view is dream like but unfortunately you can’t say the same for the 10€ breakfast of Terra Rossa. Some low quality products, not local neither and you need to keep in mind that the coffee, very good espresso and cappuccino, is going to cost you extra! We enjoyed being closed to both the beach of Isolabella and the town of Taormina. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We definitely recommend you to book a room if you are looking for a Sicilian escape!

This is an oasis in the beautiful town of Taormina. The staff are friendly, kind, and helpful especially Giovanni who treated us like old friends and made a real effort to help us. The staff were lovely especially to my daughter. The view is breathtaking, the breakfast excellent and tasty, and the pool a good size. Yes there are stairs to climb either way but you can go down the (236) steps and you are at Isobella beach and if you want to go into town you can get the funicular. The whole property, pool and gardens are meticulously maintained and the atmosphere is peaceful and you feel immersed in the gorgeous garden. For us having the apartment with a kitchenette meant we could relax “at home” in the evenings when we didn’t feel like the bustled of the town. Thank you for having us- we had the best time.
