WB Villa

A wonderful boutique hotel with a fantastic Italian restaurant. Vihan and his team are simply superb. They are friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. They are at hand to drive you into the nearby town or further afield to Galle and even to Udawalawe National Park for the elephant safari. The restaurant, where delicious continental and Sri Lankan breakfasts along with fresh fruit platters are served, overlooks the Indian Ocean. Nothing quite like having breakfast watching and listening to the waves roll into shore. Vihan was always on hand to recommend sights and attractions. A highlight was the Angara Home Cookery class which was a 1/2 day Sri Lankan cooking course run by Dinesha, a lovely local lady, in her outside kitchen in her home. She takes you to a local fish / meat market and then a vegetable market to source the products, before you cook in her outside kitchen which is set amongst mango and coconut trees in her garden. The food was incredible! If you are planning to stay along the south coast in Sri Lanka, I would thoroughly recommend staying at WB Villa!

If you are looking then STAY HERE!!! A truly amazing welcome awaits you in a secluded oasis away from the faster life style that is around you on the SW of the island. The staff make every element of your stay a joy in what are beautiful surroundings. Dine 10m from the Indian Ocean over a superb food and gorgeous sunsets! It really will be a place you will not forget.

Was picked up from our hotel in Colombo and taken to WB Villa. Was unsure what to expect as this was a stay purchased through a charity auction. We had the upstairs suite, which was massive, luxurious, cool and comfortable. Whilst we were there we did the Whale watching trip, the Angara home cookery class, visited the turtle hatchery and Udawalawe National Park. Our stay was initially for 5 nights, but we loved it so much we cancelled our next hotel and stayed there an extra 2 nights. Everything about it was amazing and the staff just couldn’t do enough for us and were so lovely ☺️ The breakfast was fresh and made to order and delicious, we had lunch and dinner a couple of times from the Italian menu, which was tasty. We also had fresh fish cooked for us by Vihan, he also drove us into Galle one evening. Viraj (tuk tuk driver) lives across the road which was very convenient. A short ride into Unawatuna, loved it there💕 He also took us to Ahangama on our last evening, was the best sunset. We had the best time in Sri Lanka at WB Villas. I stayed here 2 nights and had such a fabulous time. It’s a really great place to relax and also so easy to get a tuk tuk to the nearby hustle and bustle. The service was amazing, they even organised my laundry within 24 hours for a very reasonable price.

NOT luxury but still a good standard. Room nice. Vihan the manager is incredibly helpful and kind. He makes the stay. Great to watch turtles from wall at end of garden overlooking beach. Breakfast good. Open to non guests which is annoying, as few sunbeds and people walk of the beach and use the sunbeds having had a meal. Understand it's a business but not good for guests. Restaurant Italian so didn't choose to eat there unless needed a change to remind of home. We were promised a particular room and didn't get it.

We did this trip in two parts, the first week we packed in: Trips all organised by Vihan at WB.. Whale watching, Rain Forest, River cruise were we fed the wild monkeys, Cookery Class, Turtle Hatchery, visit to Galle and Safari, we had the car for the week and a driver and each experience with its own guide, except the whale watching which was on a very good boat. Could not have been better organised. I would recommend each and every one of these trips. Second week at WB was relaxing, everything from the rooms, the food which is excellent and the beautiful lagoon which has the glorious warm water and a resident turtle which we saw on a daily basis and on occasion more than one, as you can imagine swimming in this was bliss and went towards making it a memorable week. The thing that makes the WB however is the staff, they go above and beyond, nothing is too much trouble a huge shout out to Sampath and the team who seem to be everywhere and do everything whilst always being available to do what is needed if you need them. Vihan who manages them is always around and checks on each and every guest to make sure they are happy which I guarantee you they are. All in all a lovely holiday and if I can get back I will, this is a lovely find and definitely one for your bucket list.
