The White House

Perfect stopover . Comfortable beds , clean white bedding , breakfast left in fridge for morning , yoghurt fruit toast butter and preserves . Interesting building .. will use again if we fly from Stansted . Traffic noise but does not affect sleep and much less during night . Sadly did not realise we could leave cars for duration of stay for £7 per night but is a very good idea Thank you to the owners 🙂

Not my first time here, and definitely not my last. Beautiful and comfy and cosy B&B very close to Stansted, the hosts are simply the friendliest people on Earth, and for a small fee, you can leave your car for the duration of your holiday. Will be back!

We stayed at the White House waiting for a flight at Stansted and were so pleased with the beauty of the grounds and surrounding area. The bed was very comfortable and the people were very friendly. In addition, I forgot a valuable item which the owners so kindly mailed and returned to me. It's so nice to connect with good people while travelling. Thank you.

We have stayed at The White House pre-pandemic and had a really pleasant experience, nice room for the family, great breakfast and warm welcome. So we opted to make a return visit and stay again for a family party locally. Sadly were really disappointed this time around. 1. Disappointing that on this occasion there was no-one to greet us, the keys in a key safe and fob to enter the hotel (instructions sent by e-mail). 2. With no-one on site, issues like being locked out of our room as the door handle fell off the door when the closing the door. We reported the failed door lock by phone. To be told by the owners "we are 40 miles away and unable to resolve quickly, will have to get a friend to call in". Fortunately we had some clothing still in the car, as unable to access our room and belongings. We were local only overnight for a family party so couldn't wait. Maintenance did attend whilst we were out so we could get back in the room for the overnight stay. 3. Bedding was torn and there were holes in the main bed sheet. The Wardrobe draw missing handles and the draw not useable. Sons camp bed was unstable. 4. Iron was available, but no ironing board, when asking for one, was told one was not available and was then asked to iron clothes on the bed. 5. We booked a family room, however, got one with a separate bathroom (whilst nicely presented and well decorated for adults) for a family room with children, and no shower, was not really practical. 6. Last time we had a lovely cooked breakfast, this time a continental breakfast left in a Guinness beer fridge outside the room, plugged into an extension lead. Cereal, Toast and fruit was to be eaten in the room with 2 single beds and the double bed, with no table. 7. Tea and coffee not restocked and previous tenants usage evident (open packed of biscuits and empty sugar packets left). the jam in the fridge had butter in it from a previous stay. 8. The external photos on the website, certainly do not reflect the number of vehicles being parked on site (assume for airport parking). We would have given 4 stars after our last visit, however on this occasion the hotel was someway off that. The hotel feeling more like a Holiday in express, but also feeling unloved and leaving us really disappointed with our £145 overnight stay.

Convenient overnight accommodation with parking for early Stansted flight departures. TWH is an old residential house set back from a main road, about 5 minutes by taxi from Stansted. There are 3 letting rooms. Ours was a spacious ensuite with everything we needed … Nespresso machine, kettle, heater, nice towels & robes, tv, biccies, breakfast items in the fridge, toaster etc. The room was very clean, nicely decorated & surprisingly quiet. Parking is well organised by the owner with an allocated space number and a charge of £5/day. As an airport stopover with parking, TWH was perfect. The only downside was the cost of taxis to & from the airport which at £23 & £18 plus £7 airport exit fee per journey added £55 to the cost of staying away from the typical airport hotels.
