No television, which is a shame in this day and age. WiFi ok and free when it works. Bed comfy but the duvet is really thick so it's really hot. Bathroom really bad and Seriously Needs updating. On a serious note, the bath is very deep and even I struggled to get out of it. Nothing to hold on to when getting out. Not very good for the elderly and infirm. Shower pressure really slow. Breakfast nice and cooked to order but finishes really early.. 8.30am during the week and 9.30am weekends. In centre of town. Free parking.

We were welcomed by Kay for a 3 night stay. Our rooms were nice. New bathroom in my friends. Mine was a bit of a 1980s horror story. Lovely breakfast for our first two mornings. Second morning Kay was accompanied by a young woman who would be serving our breakfast on our last morning as she was going on holiday. Just before 8am on the third morning I went in the dining room. There was not a soul anywhere, either in the kitchen or anywhere in the hotel. The untidy & not very clean kitchen was empty. Breakfast had not been started never mind being ready. One woman appeared to be living there & her daughter had to go to school without breakfast. I rang several extensions at Samuel Smiths brewery (owners). EVERY extension went to voicemail. What a way to run a business! Kay is very nice & efficient. No blame whatsoever lies with her. We were refunded some of monies. Whoever owns the hotel has a lot to answer for.

very pleased with this hotel, ok, it's like stepping back in time, if you want ultra modern with designer furnishings, then this is not for you, if however, you want clean rooms, a good breakfast and good service then I thoroughly recommend it, very reasonably priced, good base for exploring Yorkshire, with York City 20 mins away, some good local pubs and places to eat in Tadcaster
