The bed is very comfy however, the rooms are tatty and smell bad. I found since Covid, the cleanliness has fallen way below standards. Premier Inn used to be a trusted brand which you could always rely on for pristine rooms, cleanliness and excellent value. These days, they are struggling to maintain even basic standards. This hotel was not the cleanest, lots of dust in the room which isn’t great for allergies. The bathroom does not have any ventilation at all, which leads to a lot of steam and everything soaking, and an unpleasant damp smell. The lack of staff is very frustrating and you feel bad for them as they are run off their feet. The breakfast and dining situation is by far the most underwhelming. The breakfast menu has changed so many times over recent years, the company have now settled for a rather tasteless and low brand products, half which isn’t available. Basic items such as bananas and fruit salad is not available. The evening meal is similar, many things not available, only 1 staff member taking orders, serving and collecting plates. It’s a real shame. The staff really do try their best and are overworked and underpaid, which is obviously resulting in a shortage of staff. Whitbread, please sort it out.
