Travelodge Sunderland Central

- Pros: One of the cleanest Travelodges I've been to. Located in a nice central part of the city with access to everything within reach. Rooms are decently spaced also though other travelodges I've been to have had sofas to sit on. (Just a bed and desk with shelving). - Neutral: Very small reception area; don't expect a cafeteria of any sort. No breakfast but I've put this down as a neutral point as I've never had breakfast at any travelodges anyway. - Cons: Compared to other travelodges this one had very few sockets in the room. Parking is the worst drawback in this location; not enough spaces to accommodate all the rooms they have on offer. Considering I have to pay £6 per day should be able to return without worrying whether I'll find space or not. No sufficient nearby parking facilities either (and not paying another £6 again for parking!). Had to leave car parked on double yellow, ruined my night constantly worrying. Eventually a bay became free around 12am. No amenities such as soap, shampoo etc, iron nor hairdryer provided. All in all would think twice before returning here primarily due to the parking, all else was okay. Building is very visually appealing to look at.

Wet and wee stained bed, plus the bed wasnt even made. Shocking. They couldnt move me as apparently there was no space. I deserve a refund and more. Discracefull

Me and my daughter returned to the hotel from an evening at the local thertre, at about 10:30pm. A few men were smoking outside the hotel’s entrance . I assumed they were customers of the hotel due to their clothing and footwear. One of the males was whistling towards us, which encouraged the group to make inappropriate comments. This was a scary moment, yet not new to women. I felt safer knowing there was a security guard on site, yet he was on the first floor, so I didn't see him until we got to this level, where our room was situated.

Hotel was dirty and dated. Rooms were like ovens, left 45 minutes waiting for fan to be told there were now none left.

The temperature in the rooms during the heat was unbearable. The windows ability to open was the smallest crack helping nothing. The coffee in the room was terrible and the milk was gone off. The tv didn't work, and the power outlets were struggling. The reception staff bar the Australian and the guy who checked us in were either non existent or rude. The location was good that is all. Will never stay at a travelodge in my life.

The Travelodge at Sunderland City Central is a hotel located at the top end of the City and is about a three minute walk to the Empire Theatre or about a five minute walk towards the Bridges Shopping Centre. From the bus station, it is also about a 5 minute walk so it is ideal if you are accessing the City via public transport. Ideally located to access the theatre, shopping, bars and restaurants, the hotel offers a comfortable stay at a reasonable price. We were staying for two nights at the back end of June for an event and we checked in on a Friday and checked out on a Sunday. Check in was straight forward and we were met by a happy and friendly lady on reception who gave us our key and provided me with an ironing and ironing board. We took the lift to our room on the first floor at the end of a long corridor. Walking into the room, I was immediately impressed at the size of it and it was more like a suite than a room you normally get with a Travelodge. The door opened into a large room with plenty of space and the bathroom off to the left. The bathroom had a bath, wall-mounted showergel/shampoo and handwash. There were enough towels for the two of us and the bathroom was of a good size that you could get changed in there without feeling claustrophobic. The room had a large bed, a TV on a swivel, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. There were also hangers, a fan and extra blankets located in an open wardrobe around a slight corner. The room was large and airy and overlooked the car park and looked towards The Bridges shopping centre. We were there for two nights and each member of staff we encountered were professional, pleasant and polite. The room was comfortable enough that we both got good nights and sleep and you can come and go as you please with the benefit of having security in reception on an evening should anything happen. For what we paid, around £160, for two nights on a weekend in a central hotel, I think it was more than worth the money we paid and definitely somewhere to consider if you need to stay overnight. in the City.
