Premier Inn Stratford-Upon-Avon Central

The bed was comfy, the pillows were supportive and not too hard, the room was really quiet and the shower was great - the cleanliness and quality of the bathroom is really important. i stayed only for the night, no meals and it was exactly what i needed.

This Premier Inn's recent make-over - their 'Next Evolution' style room - was a great disappointment. PI have managed to cheapen their product even more, with less hanging and storage space, plus only providing a single glass mug which has to double as a drinking glass. The desk has been replaced by a 300mm wide shelf at a stand-up height, whilst the tacky mini round table and chairs look as though they are about to fall apart on first use. The only plus point of the room was the walk-in shower. To really spoil us, nearly half the ingredients listed on the Continental Breakfast menu were not available. No croissants, no pain-au-cholcolats, no blueberry muffins, no sourdough crumpets, no granola, no selection of yoghurts. The member of staff looking after breakfast told us that she had not seen such items for weeks.

Having stayed many times before we anticipated a good stay. Booked early check in for £10 room not ready so they refunded. Room cold which they clearly know as oil filled radiator also available. No heating in bathroom and freezing. Shower hot in the morning however prior to going out in the evening luke warm. Told rec we wanted room cleaned and new towels and put said fob on outside of door. Not cleaned and needed to go and get clean towels. I’m not clear how you can opt to reuse towels as no heated towel to dry them (unless they expect you to reuse wet cold towels) . All in all poor experience.

Great location a short walk into the high street and the RSC 5 mins max walk. We received a warm welcome. Stayed in a large room which was very clean. A really good nights sleep; bed comfy. The room was warm as well. Check out at 12. A vending machine for midnight snacks on returning from the pub.

Good value for basic accommodation and food. Yes, the layout and meandering stairs are a little confusing but the rooms were comfortable and clean, The TV was easy to operate and WI FI was good. The breakfast offered basic choice of cereals and pleasant cooked buffet (though coffee machine packed up part way through breakfast). The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well located for visiting theatre.

The hotel is very central, but is converted from old buildings so very higgledy-piggledy with changes of levels and directions in the corridors. My major issue was with the heating, which goes off if you’re not in the room and also at night time. This meant that we returned for a rest before dinner only to find the room was 16°C. We had to get up at 5:15am for an early flight and were unable to turn the heating on, so had to shower in a chilly room. I have not experienced this issue before at other Premier Inns.
