Barberstown Castle

Barberstown Castle is an absolute gem in gorgeous Kildare. A short car ride from the beautiful town of Maynooth Barberstown Castle is simply fabulous and was once owned by Eric Clapton. Our room was very comfortable complete with a four poster bed. The staff are extremely welcoming and the food was delicious! They offer package deals which are excellent value. Definitely one for the bucket list!

Beautiful place for a get together as the staff is great, food brilliant. The rooms are state of the art , clean and styled to a high standard The reception staff are kind and considerate especially Heather who went out of her way to help us get the right room ,

The landscaping, artworks, architecture, garden bar, room decor... wow I understand why so many ppl want to own this... (Eric Clapton guitar display) room placards are mint... details everywhere... walk the property at twilight or early am to feel the Lushness surrounding Walk around corner to Victorian Tea Room for a quaint experience or book a ressy in the dining room, or sit w Joe @Garden Bar and relax

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Barberstown Castle. From the moment we arrived we knew there was a treat in store.The reception team are warm,welcoming & proud of place which is so good to behold. Our room was beautiful and upgrade much appreciated for a special occasion.Exploring the grounds was a joy ,the diversity between old and new so interesting. There are so many special features and works of art in side and out.The Garden bar & restaurant is the loveliest setting.Dinner was delicious,service spot on and again that friendly, openess of every staff member we encountered.A superb breakfast down in the castle was the ultimate surprise I am spreading the word.A stay in Barberstown Castle has topped my list.Thankyou for such a memorable time ,you epitomize the best of irish hospitality Wishing you the best for the future. Barberstown Castle Hotel Barberstown Castle is a 4 star Country House & Historic Castle in the village of Straffan, Co. Kildare, and we were delighted to have been invited by Austin and Amanda to stay in their stunning hotel, which was the perfect backdrop for the annual Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, an amazing event, “riding dapper” in the name of men's health! The hotel boasts a variety of bars, restaurants & public areas including a dramatic Medieval Keep, an Irish Pub, and a Garden Bar where we enjoyed a delicious meal. We loved the starters of tender Salt & Pepper Calamari Pop with a zesty lime & coriander dip, and Dublin Bay Prawns in White Wine and Garlic Butter Sauce with Sourdough, followed by Fillet of Salmon with Creamed Potato and Confit Fennel in a Caper Beurre Blanc, and Beetroot Gnocchi in a Spinach & Smoked Goats Cheese Sauce with Candied Walnuts. The Castle has been beautifully and sympathetically upgraded to a 61 Bedroom Failte Ireland Approved Hotel, and we had the privilege of staying, yet again, in the luxurious Barton Suite. Decorated in neutral tones, in a classical style, this spacious, comfortable suite was absolutely perfect for a restful stay. With wonderful views over the lovely gardens, the whole experience was second to none. We also had a terrific à la carte breakfast served in the striking medieval keep; The Ballyhack Smoked Salmon was served with scrambled egg and chives on homemade seeded brown bread, and The Vegetarian Breakfast featured perfectly poached free-range eggs, vegan sausage, vegan white pudding, sautéed mushrooms, avocado, potatoes, grilled tomato, and toast. There’s also a great continental selection. Many thanks to everyone at Barberstown Castle for making us so welcome at this wonderful venue renowned for luxurious getaways, special celebrations, weddings, conferences and events, gala dinners, and private dining.

We recently stayed in Barberstown Castle as a family to celebrate my Fathers 80th Birthday. From our first engagement with the hotel to establish the best rooms, which part of the hotel to dine in. Coupled with the ambiance and first class service delivered. We as a family experienced a lasting family memory all thanks to Richard and his team of talented colleagues. We are truly grateful.
