The Frocester

We stayed in Magnolia cottage for 3 nights and were thoroughly impressed. The cleanliness, location and facilities were all top notch. Plenty of parking, fresh milk, tea and coffee, basic toiletries and a very comfy bed. The staff were all excellent and the food served in the restaurant was sublime. The ceilings are low in the bedroom and up the spiral staircase so it might not be the best place for very tall people. Other than that, my only slight gripe were the blinds in the bedroom were a bit fiddly and let a lot of light in at sunrise. We’d happily stay here again.

Could find no faults with this comfortable inn. Staff friendly and the food WAS PERFECT. Highly recommend would certainly stay here again. I thought I had a complaint when I looked for milk for my coffee on the tray, not there ! BUT a mall bottle of fresh milk in the fridge. What a great touch.

A good find. Bedrooms were large and comfortable and were clean and well equipped. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had dinner and that was good quality and restaurant was very pleasant. Breakfast was excellent.

My husband and I have recently returned from a 3-day visit to Gloucester and had the good fortune to stay at the Frocester George, a 'Quality Inn'. Without doubt this is probably the finest country hotel we have ever been guests of. 'Quality Inns' is an appropriate title as everything about the Frocester George was first class quality. The reception staff were genuinely welcoming as were the waiting staff in the tastefully decorated, airy dining room. Our room, the deluxe suite, fully lived up to its name and was spacious and elegant with good storage. Its main feature was the largest, most comfortable bed we had ever seen or experienced in several global destinations. The piece de resistance, however, was the stunning, state-of-the art, massive bathroom, which contained an awesome power shower and a bath which could easily accommodate a small family car!!! The breakfast was served by the ever cheery Rachel, and equally amiable, Darren, and again were top quality, offering a huge full English, comprised of delicious fresh produce sourced from local farms, cooked to perfection. In short if you are ever in that area of Gloucester, treat yourself to this exceptional guest house, if you are fortunate enough to find availability.

Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, especially the young man who checked us in, was working the bar and later the restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, open log burners, room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Ate in the restaurant (another lovely room) in the evening and the food was excellent, great choice on the menu. Breakfast was also extremely good. Would definitely stay again and if we lived local would certainly be calling in to eat there on a regular basis.

Arrived on one of the hottest days of the year at this lovely coaching house recommended by family who live locally. The hospitality here can’t be faulted. Check in was unhurried and we were able to enjoy an ice cold beer before being shown the room, which was one of the nicest we’ve stayed in. The bathroom was absolutely beautiful, too. But it was the little touches that made this place special, like the homemade biscuits, the candles around the huge bath and matches to light them, which weren’t there for show! Gorgeous toiletries, bath robes and big bath towels, too. Dinner here with family was a real treat, and served by friendly and attentive staff. After a last drink in the bar served by another member of this friendly team, we returned to a comfortable king sized bed with big squashy pillows . Breakfast was excellent, catering well for those who wanted a cooked meal and for those who didn’t - and again the service was superb. Highly recommended!
