This being said, the hotel deserves an in depth cleaning session : carpets on the hallways, outside onsen, furnitures, walls. It looks a bit worn out. Also, during the whole evening there was a strong smell of grilled octopus / squid. We could smell it from the reception throughout all the floors until in our room on the 4th floor, although the kitchen is on the 6th floor ! There's definitely something to do with the ventilation of the kitchen. Finally, we didn't understand what happened in the morning. We've been rejected from breakfast along with other customers although we had booked the evening before upon recommendation from the reception. The person told us there were no more seats and since we insisted because we had to catch the first boat, we've been put at the service table. Once inside, we realized there were many free places, even entire tables unoccupied. Weird sense of organization... All in all, to finish on a nice note, our stay was rather good and we really mean weel when we mention the above.

The location is very good, just a few minutes walk to the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Mt. Misen Ropeway station. There is a free shuttle bus station right outside the hotel to go the ropeway station. You can see the Torii throughout the hotel window. At night when the Torii with lights on, the view is stunning! The indoor onsen is not big but it's ok for 10+ people at the same time, the outside onsen is small and can only occupies 4-5ppl. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and thoughtful. I was fully wet after the hiking to Mt. Mismen on the raining day, they helped me to dry all my shoes and coat. Happy to stay at Iwaso and will definitely stay again.
