Thompson House is historic, quirky, unique and comfortable. It survived the 1964 9.2 earthquake and tsunami that caused Old Valdez to relocate to the new and present town site. An addition more than doubled the size of the original one room cabin which included an extensive remodel.The house sleeps 6. There are three bedrooms and a half bath upstairs, the master with a queen bed, the second with three twins, and a twin in the tower recommended for anyone over the age of 12. There are no doors separating each space. There are two futons available downstairs if needed to sleep more than six. The full bath and sauna are steps apart on the main floor.Newly refurbished, Thompson House offers Wi fi, TV, blue ray player, new kitchen appliances, microwave, washer, dryer, freezer, on demand water heater and Toyo heater. No need to chop and haul wood! There is off street parking in front of the house.Centrally located, it is only steps to one of the two grocery stores in town, a few blocks to the harbor, a bank and ATM, restaurants, museums, art shops, gift shops, harbor drive, beaches, ponds and down town. Our home is a brand new construction built in 2018 in a quiet neighborhood on the outskirts of town. Although, we are not located in town, we are just minutes away by car or bike! Access to beautiful trails, for hiking and cross country skiing, that lead to Shoup Bay and Mineral Creek. Our home is about a mile from the shoreline but nestled closely to the mountainside. The three bedrooms and two and half bathrooms are fully stocked with linens, bedding, toiletries and laundry care. In addition to three queen sized beds, we have two pull out couches for extra sleeping accommodations in the living room and den. We also have cots for extra sleeping arrangements if necessary. In the garage we have a weight machine if you do not want to miss a workout away from home, plus a basketball game for the kids to enjoy! All brand new furniture for our new home, as well as playpen and high chair for the littles tagging along!Owner lives in the neighborhood and will be available if needed, however, will let you have a comfortable stay in privacy.
