The other 2 bedrooms each have a queen size bed. All bedrooms have their own Smart TV. The living room has a 50" Smart TV with comfortable seating. Enjoy eating outside on the screened porch that includes a dining table for 6 plus additional seating, and a gas grill just off the outside door. Books, games, & cards are available for both children & adults. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, blender, filtered water, electric teapot, and coffee maker (single serve & 12 cup pot). Enjoy your morning coffee or favorite beverage while seated in the rockers on the front porch. There is also a large laundry room with stackable washer and dryer. 10 Sumner’s Crescent, aka O’ACES, was renovated in 2021, and features a new open kitchen and living area. The kitchen has marble counters, a full height marble backsplash, and waterfall edge. The counter has seating for 5. It has a high-end commercial, vintage style, iLve 5 burner gas range with a convection gas/electric oven and warming drawer. It also has a GE cafe French door, freezer bottom fridge, with an ice maker. The kitchen has a large stainless under-mount sink, a Quiet Bosch dishwasher with silverware shelf, and a garbage disposal. The main house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room on the first floor. There is also a long screened-in porch running the length of the back of the house with a door to it from each of those bedrooms.The second floor is open concept, with the kitchen, dining area (comfortably seating up to 8), family room, gas (remote operated) fireplace, and game area. There is also a half bath & a deck with lounge chairs on the upper level. The house has a separate crofter above the golf cart garage with an additional bedroom, bathroom & closet/mini-kitchenette. The crofter has its own deck with a seating area, shaded under an ancient oak tree.The main house has a tankless hot water heater so that you, and everyone in your family, can take a long warm/hot shower on vacation without fighting over the hot water. A rare treat!O’ACES is located adjacent to the BHI Conservancy, right by Mike’s Bites & Captain Charlie’s. It is just under 2 blocks to the Beach, between Beach Access 35 & Beach Access 36. You can Walk to the Shoal’s Club, Beach Access 39, East Beach, Cape Fear Station, and much more!2 of the bedrooms have King beds.1 bedroom has a queen bed and 3 twin beds, bunked. There are also 2 blowup twin mattresses, and a portable crib.The house has a separate garage, with 2 golf carts. One golf cart is included in the rental rate. There is an additional golf cart available for rent on a daily or weekly basis. Both golf carts are 4 seaters. One is a 2012 Club Car & the other is a 2023 Bentelli with a back up camera & a cell phone charger.There is an extra washer & dryer in the closet in the garage. We find it’s Great for sandy towels & bathing suits or Crofter laundry.There is a private/enclosed outdoor shower behind the garage with plenty of hooks for all of your bathing suits, waders and towels. There are other goodies in the garage and storage area behind it that you can borrow. (Bikes, a bike tire pump, golf cart blankets, beach chairs, beach toys, boogie boards, casting nets, crabbing nets, etc.)We are members of the Shoal’s Club, so you can buy a temporary membership to it for your stat. Please note, that both clubs have added an administrative fee of $100 if your temporary membership is not processed 7-10 days before your arrival. Starting in 2022, the Clubs are now charging per person, per week for anyone 6 years and older using the Club (instead of the per bedroom charge covering the house). In high season & many holidays, the Shoal’s Club is closed to temporary members on Mondays & the BHI Club is closed to temporary members on Saturdays & Sundays. Shoal’s Club paperwork can be done directly on their website, and you can pay the club directly with your credit card at the time you sign up or by phone at least 7 days before you arrive. The Club’s website has information about the services, activities, and the dining options they offer. It is updated fairly regularly & changes frequently. We were hoping to do Friday to Friday or Sunday to Sunday rentals in order to avoid Saturday to Saturday rentals which are so (maybe too) popular. We thought many guests might want to avoid the most popular turnover day, for ease of ferry and tram reservations/booking, etc. The lines for the ferries are much more crowded on Saturday. However, we are flexible if you prefer Saturday. We encourage you to consider Friday to Friday, another weekday, or Sunday.Starting with the first week of June 2023, the ferry ticketing system has become electronic, with the ability to make reservations for each ferry. If you forget anything, or want to pick up some items that are not convenient to fly with, we have drivers that will stop on the way. Golf cart tires are not meant to be driven on streets in general, and there has been a lot of construction on the island lately, so there are nails and other sharp debris; drive carefully. You are responsible for any popped tires, and any unusual wear and tear to the tires. You must have a valid drivers’ license, and be 16 or older to operate a golf cart. Do not drive golf carts or bikes under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Please hose off the golf carts when you are finished with them and remove any trash.3. There is a hose by the garage, and another one by the front door, for your feet, your children’s feet, your dog’s feet, and anything else that went to the beach that is not going to stay in the garage or outside.4. Beach toys & Garage items: please feel free to use any beach toys, beach chairs, beach towels, casting nets, etc. that you find, but please return them hosed off and where you found them. We are happy to share these items with you, but we can’t continue, if you don’t respect them. In the cooler months, there is a bin full of golf cart blankets to the left of the carts in the garage.5. Please respect our games, books, china, crystal, and nice linens. We want to share these items with you, but we can only continue to do so if you return them how you found them in generally the same place. It’s easy if you take a photo.6. If you choose to rearrange the furniture, please put it back how you found it.7. Please do not put food on the walls or under furniture or mattresses.8. All recycling should be taken to the recycling center by the dump and Public Safety, near the Market. Recycling is not picked up by the trash people on Bald Head Island. If you fill the outside trash bins, please go to the dump, which is located by Public Safety. Two minute drive/10 minute walk to the ocean and an even shorter walk to the Intracoastal Waterway. Oak Island has a paid parking program that charges for the majority of public parking spaces along the beach from April 1 - September 30 between the hours of 9am-5pm. Paid parking passes are purchased at time of use through a mobile app at a rate of $5/hour, $20/day or $80/week. Town of Oak Island public parking spaces are clearly marked and are generally located at public beach access points and town-managed recreation areas such as Middletown Park. Pay by downloading the Surfcast by Otto Connect app and/or by scanning the QR code on parking signage.The Wooden Whale is our home away from home. We’ve put a lot of time, energy and effort into making it a space that is welcoming, comfortable and well-appointed. The space has been professionally-designed and boasts an open floor plan with lots of natural light. Relax under the cooling breezes of ceiling fans (in each room), enjoy a cross-breeze from the full screen front door to the screened in porch off of the kitchen. High-end laminate flooring and ceramic tiled flooring in wet areas make clean up easy. The living room boasts a 55” smart TV with access to Netflix & Hulu (bring your login info!). The kitchen is packed full of dishes, cookware, small appliances and other essentials. We love to cook and have taken great care to include all the elements needed to create memorable meals. Curious to know if we have a particular item, just ask! There is a separate laundry room and common cleaning supplies available as well.The Primary bedroom has a King bed, walk-in closet, en-suite bathroom with double vanity & garden tub, dresser, bedside tables, quilt/coverlet, and pillows. The Queen bedroom has a Queen bed, dresser, bedside tables, quilt/coverlet, and pillows. The Twin bedroom has two twin beds, dresser, desk/bedside table, quilts/coverlets, and pillows. Both Guest bedrooms have close access to a hallway bath. Please note that sheet sets (including pillow cases) and bath towels are not provided. We are happy to recommend local rental services if you are interested. Our home comfortably accommodates up to six people (including children). The screened in back porch is the perfect place to sip your morning coffee, read a book curled up on the sofa or in a hammock chair on a rainy day, or enjoy an evening beverage with friends and family. Just outside the porch, you’ll find a patio complete with a dining table and chairs for six, and an outdoor shower for rinsing off after a fun day at the beach! Plus, enjoy a hammock for two in the spacious backyard! Outdoor games including cornhole and jenga are available for use as well. And don't forget the recently-installed in-ground fire pit with accompanying six Adirondack chairs. Great for cooler evenings! A gas grill has been provided for guest use.The real star of the island is the beach itself. It's a short distance by bike or car with over 60 public beach access points. No matter the time of the year, your time spent at the beach will be memorable. Our absolute favorite place in the world is “The Point” – the westernmost part of the Island where you can enjoy outstanding sunsets and calm waters.We love the western part of the island. It's quiet but offers quick access to everything that makes OKI special. Take a left out of the driveway to reach the Intracoastal waterway - calm waters perfect for fishing. Take a right and arrive at the beach in less than 10 minutes (walking) or 2 (by car/bike)! Lots of lovely oaks adorn the island and the beaches, well, they speak for themselves.The Wooden Whale is located very close to the Swain's Cut Bridge (the "new bridge"), one of two access points to the island. There are two grocery stores on the island (Food Lion and Publix on Oak Island Drive) in addition to Lowe's Foods located just across the Middleton bridge. The island is motor and pedestrian-friendly. Oak Island Drive has sidewalks that run it's length and the neighborhood streets are quiet and calm.We have two bicycles, beach chairs & umbrellas for you to use, and an excellent rental service to recommend if additional items are needed. Two lounge chairs are also available, although we ask you refrain from taking them to the beach - they are perfect for sunbathing at the house.Sadly, no pets are allowed and smoking is strictly prohibited in the house. Please dispose of any cigarette butts outside appropriately. Evidence of neglect in this area will forfeit your security deposit.
