My wife anMy wife and I stayed for one night and were genuinely blown away. The hotel itself is beautiful – very boujee, quiet, and relaxing. Our room was lovely, and the bath was absolutely incredible – perfect for unwinding. We had the 8-course tasting menu and it was easily some of the best food we’ve ever had. Every course was spot on, and the Snickers-inspired dessert was next level. We even had the chance to chat with the chef, which made it all feel extra special. The service throughout was outstanding – friendly, professional, and attentive. There’s a really nice bar, and the whole vibe of the place is ideal for couples looking for a chilled, luxurious night away. We’ve now been to both Crazy Bear locations, and both are amazing in their own ways – this one is under new management, so definitely give it a go. We’ll 100% be going back! The room was spacious and clean so can’t fault the bedroom set-up- although it is potentially an acquired taste. However, the value just wasn’t really there. A 3 course dinner was included in the package for the Thai and the food was nice but there were lots of supplements (eg veggie pad Thai included but prawn an extra £5). It was annoying to have to pay £10 for a side of rice to go with the included main. Breakfast was a let-down. One of the highlights of a hotel stay for many is a good breakfast. It was only a menu order (at additional cost including a 13% service charge). The food was nice enough but it is the height of stinginess on a relatively expensive stay to not even include some cereal, fruit or juices as part of breakfast. Our package included 50% off a massage but the therapist doesn’t work on Sundays or Mondays so there wasn’t availability. Soundproofing was also poor into the corridor and the fire alarm went off at 6.30. We had a nice stay but I just don’t think it represents good value at all when you could go to a more traditional hotel with pool and spa facilities for less per night. We spent £345 for the night and then spent another £60 on breakfast and sides from the Thai. The hotel also tried to charge us another £25 for a glass of champagne we hadn’t ordered but took it off the bill without argument when we noticed the error.

Certainly not a 5* experience. Positives: staff welcoming, good service, lovely bar area. Thai food was good. Negatives: tired room and restaurant. Basics missing from the room like USB points, fridge, a lamp (the room lights were either on or off, not very relaxing). Wet room flooded and soaked clothes. No hand soap, no dressing gowns. The hallway area was very smelly and as such felt unclean. Discussed issues at check out and was met with a shrug and a 'send an email'. Overall a disappointing experience for a special occasion.

WARNING- These clowns think its acceptable to cancel your hotel booking (made weeks in advance), with only 2 hours notice when you are already on your way to the hotel. No one picking up the phone, no telephone number for the manager at all. Shockingly bad customer services. Please read the hundreds of terrible reviews online before trusting these guys. Little wonder they are closing down soon- probably more cancelations when this happens.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. We arrived early as we wanted to have lunch. Our room obviously wasn’t ready which was fine as we were t expecting it to be. We were greeted warmly and given directions to the pub area to grab lunch. When we had finished one of the reception ladies came to tell us our room was ready (it was ready early) and as we had finished eating she toon us straight to the room. She was friendly and full of information. We stayed in room 12. It was stunning. My only gripe with the room was the lack of hot water and we did struggle to get the room warm (I do like to be warm so may not be a problem for some) The room was clean and yes there was a bit of wear and tear in a couple places and in a couple of areas in the hotel itself but if you choose to see these things and make a thing of them then you are looking to be picky for the sake of it. Special mention to Oscar who looked after us at lunch and dinner. He was super fun, very knowledgeable and made our anniversary dinner a memorable one. To be fair to everyone else in the Oak, the bar area and reception they were all very welcoming, friendly, engaging and helpful I just didn’t get their names to mention them individually. The food was beautiful. We thought out and cooked to perfection. We had Thai for lunch and ate in the oak for dinner. Overall our stay was perfect. We felt relaxed, welcome and like the only people in the hotel. The service was personalised and memorable and I will definitely go back.

I have to be honest when I read some of the reviews I was sceptical however in my option people only tend to leave poor reviews & those that are happy don’t bother. From the second we turned up we were treated with nothing but kindness. The room was clean and super comfortable as were all areas within the crazy bear. The staff were all lovely & the food was amazing. Genuinely had the most relaxed weekend. Beautiful village & lovely farm shop. Plenty of places to visit near by & loved seeing the animals at the farm shop. Sophie is an absolute credit to the crazy bear, she is both beautiful inside and outside. We very much hope to come back. Thank you everyone.
