Overall the houseboat itself in terms of comfort and suitability for a stay was fantastic, the structure. We booked through a travel agent in Delhi after our plans changed and had a lovely time in Sriningar. However we did feel like we were constantly being scammed. We got talked into paying about £370 (INR 37,000) for hiring a car for three days including to the airport, doing a 1hr boat ride on the lake as well as going round Srinigar city, then one day to the mountains. I feel this overall didn’t cost as much as we got charged. The hotel manager also several times tried getting his “friends” to sell us at various times including breakfast things such as pashmina scarves, wooden stools, Kashmiri tea and plant seeds which I think was highly inappropriate. The final thing which frustrated us is on the day we did a tour of Srinigar, the tour guide took us to a *** named Bashir’s house who I presume owns the houseboat and he tried selling us several “gemstones” and jewellery which we were clearly not interested in but kept being pushed on us, which again very frustrating because we are tourists on our honeymoon trying to enjoy ourselves and felt we were trying to stop being scammed in every moment, and having to keep a watch out. Everyone was overall very nice and hospitable and views were priceless, however due to bans on signal from outside Indian states in Kashmir (unless you are connected to wifi you can’t contact anyone even if you have an Indian SIM card) definitely do your own research and hire a driver yourself prior to arrival, maybe even try get a Kashmiri SIM card. It will be significantly cheaper and a better experience. Also don’t go in January it’s bitterly cold. Summer is better apparently and the mountains still have snow.

Our stay on Mr Bashir’s houseboat was one of the best in our trip in India!! It was very clean, bright and a great location! The stuff were polite, very professional and friendly, we totally recommend then and we would definitely go back there!

A most wonderful sojourn in the most beautiful of settings. On the shore of Dal lake and in the shadow of the Mughal fort. Very plush living with a super comfortable bed and bathroom. Our stay on The Piece of Mind houseboat was the perfect end to our stay in Magnificent Kashmir. I personally couldn't recommend this accommodation enough.

As soon as I arrived, very tired, the manager of the property, Rumi, began to hassle me about activities and my onward trip. His prices started ridiculously high, and came down to very high. I was shattered and agreed. He overcharged me- lots. I paid 7500 rupees for a trip to Panthakot, that should have been 2000. I also had cash stolen from my room.

It was a really nice stay! Latif was very helpful and kind. Amazing sunset point nice location for pictures. Limited options for breakfast but was served nice and hot. Rooms have proper heating facility and have hot water in bathroom. Overall a nice experience

There view is amazing The kindness it amazing, good is to good to talk about home cook Indian cuisine! Breakfast every morning and tea The boat is everything you can ask for a full working shower and toilet. Towels and shower jel Heating Single and doubles bed - The people are just amazing. Latef are host at peace of mind boat house was the most welcoming and always made sure we had everything for 5days food,drinks, markets. And many more activities Would highly recommend 😊

Came into Srinagar to stay in these house boats, what an excellent experience. Great food, heating, aircon if not the winter. Very hospitable and cannot do enough for you. The place is safe clean and tidy, beds are comfortable, fully functional bathroom, soaps towels etc. Yeah all in all absolutely spot on.
