This is my first time staying in a hotel in such a far place. I thought it was a beautiful hotel from the photos, but unfortunately it was windy and rainy for two days and one night. There was really nothing I could do about the weather, but I was not satisfied with the lounge bar and the arrangement of dinner and breakfast in the hotel.
Dinner was supposed to start at 5:30. I arrived at the restaurant at 5:40 and there was a long queue. When it was my turn, they told me that the place was full and I should come back around 6:30. I sat down and waited. I found that guests were registered one by one and informed of the time. I went to queue again at 6:30. Some people were already queued to 7:30 or 8:30, which meant that the people entering the restaurant and those queuing for reservations were all mixed together.
The same thing happened with breakfast. I was really dumbfounded.
It was the first time I stayed in a hotel that arranged the restaurant in this way, and I found it incredible. My previous experience was that when checking in, the hotel would first ask about the estimated meal time and then make arrangements. Wouldn't this save a lot of chaos?
I really think the restaurant service staff have a very hard time because the company's process is so poor that it makes them suffer.

There are two stations to get here, one is Kushimoto Station, which is more than two kilometers away, but it is a normal road, that is, there is a sidewalk (Picture 1). We arrived at around 10 o'clock in the evening. Although there were very few people walking by, There is only a short section of the road that is dark, but overall it is easy to walk, and the restaurants open at night are all concentrated near Kushimoto Station. The other is Kiihime Station, which is more than one kilometer away. Although it is close, it is a very small station. The walk from this station to the hotel is like a highway without sidewalks. People have to walk on the driveway (Picture 2 3) When we left the next morning, Google's navigation told us to go this way. We didn't see any street lights along the way. It's hard to imagine how dangerous it was to go this way the night before. It is recommended that if you can take a taxi, it is best. If you walk there, you should choose to get off at Kushimoto Station, which is farther but safer.

There are 5 different onsens (including two amazing cave onsens) and a garden and a deck at level 30+ and restaurants, souvenir shops and a Lawsons in the hotel itself. The downside is that it is only reachable by a short boat ride on a very adorable turtle boat from 7 to 7 at certain intervals so you’ll need to time your itineraries very precisely. However, I did enjoy coming back earlier from a long day of hiking at Kumano Kodo and relaxing in the different onsens, which were a big highlight of my trip. Also make sure to dine at Ihura Sushi at Kii-Katsuura, which has amazing sushi.

GGuest UserThe hotel is built in the mountains and needs to go through a 100-meter-long tunnel to get there. After getting off at Katsuura Station, walk for 1.4 kilometers, or take a taxi, as I remember, it costs more than 700 yen. The hotel's lobby, rooms and hot springs all face the bay, which is very pleasant. The staff was very enthusiastic and provided the timetable for the Kumano Kodo bus and the Ji の Matsushima Cruise. The breakfast is Japanese style and very rich. Although it does not have the sunrise scenery of Urashima Hotel, it is cheap and good.
