In Sorrento I cant imagine it being a better experience. We loved our 5 days at Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria :)

We got married in Sorrento and stayed at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in 2004 and decided to return to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The hotel didn't disappoint in any aspect, from decor to facilities. The pool is fabulous and the food at night in the Orangery is on par with the best on Sorrento. All the staff are friendly and want to help in every way possible. We will definitely not wait another 20 years before we come back again.

This top rated resort is so close to the action in Sorrento, but is so quiet, as it is on a large area of land surrounded by gardens. The entrance to the hotel is along a walkway full of flowers. The staff is very attentive, the best staff we have ever experienced. This hotel has its own private elevator down to the pier where you can get on a ferry to Capri. There is live music every evening on the outside patio overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. There is also a pianist while you have breakfast. Breakfast is unbelievable, where there are over 20 choices of fresh baked goods. The staff will remember you and have your beverage of choice ready for you at breakfast. One evening we decided to have room service. I called to see if they had room service, as I did not see a menu in the room. I totally forgot that the menu is on an iPad on the desk, so I said I'd call back. In less than 4 minutes, a waiter came to our room to personally take our order. I was craving French fries and he managed to get me some. We were served on our private balcony. When the turn down service noticed we were taking pillows from the sofa to use on the outside chairs for comfort, she immedicably found outdoor cushions for us. This is the type of service we received every day. Our only problem was having the staff understand "iced tea, unsweetened." We found only one staff member that understood, at the pool. We usually got lemonade or very sweet tea. The pool is wonderful and on the cold side, but swimmable. My only complaint would be that the outside bar food and room service food was fair.

My husband and I were lucky to stay here while vacationing in Italy and Paris! After visiting many beautiful hotels, we were so fortunate and thankful to have booked our final days in this magnificent hotel. Sorrento was never on our radar, in fact I only booked it through American Express Fine Hotels and resorts. We were in our final days before flying back to the United States. We had no idea what to expect and so thankful we saved the best for last! This beautiful hotel was the highlight of our trip! First class service from the very beginning! As you enter the beautiful bougainvillea-lined drive you are immediately greeted at the Excelsior Vittoria entrance by their wonderful staff! I am not sure I have been greeted with more hospitality as I have been at the Grande Vittoria Excelsior. It was raining upon arrival and our wonderful greeter (I wish I could remember his name) was so gracious by immediately offering his umbrella as he helped unload our suitcases. The hotel is located right on the Mediterranean with beautiful views of Vesuvius & Capri. We were upgraded to a junior suite that had a perfect view from your sitting area or private terrace to enjoy the complimentary bottle of Chianti. The hotel staff are at your beck & call. They assisted us with everything, theyare all so gracious and helpful in every way. You can easily walk around Sorrento & have access to many shops & restaurants or stay in your private sanctuary. The hotel is located right on the Mediterranean with beautiful views of Vesuvius & Capri. There is a lift that takes you from the terrace right down to the waterfront where we caught our boat for our tour of the Amalfi Coast. The hotel is a marvel in itself with crown molding intricately painted as well as gorgeous painted ceilings. The antiques are a treasure from years past. We loved sitting at the restaurant on the terrace or sitting in one of the lovely interior rooms having a cocktail. You will be amazed at the breakfast which is a huge buffet of anything you would ever want & was included with our stay. Each morning, we were greeted and waited on by Giovanni, he is truly a gentleman and loves what he does. Stunning views from our table along with the amazing breakfast buffet was a wonderful way to start our day! After breakfast we walked around the grounds which hosts a beautiful pool & a varietal garden so lush and green with an array of orange and lemon trees. On our last day we spent on a boat tour to Capri and after arriving back at our hotel we were graciously offered late check out and able to spend our final hours out at the beautiful pool. The service, staff and drinks were exceptional! I truly can't put into words the grandiosity of this hotel! It truly takes your breath away and I've already been planning our trip for 2025! It has been 20 years since our very first stay at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, and our recent 5-day stay reaffirmed why this place continues to remain so special to us. From the moment we arrived, we were reminded of the timeless charm and exceptional service that make this hotel a true 5 star experience. We usually visit the region in August or September, but due to personal reasons, we came earlier this year. We were delighted to have lucked out with the weather, which was perfect throughout our stay. Our arrival was made even more special as we arrived by boat from Capri and were warmly welcomed off the boat by a fabulous member of the concierge team and tjis seamless and personal welcome set the tone for our wonderful stay. We were fortunate to be there during the Tregolfi celebrations, which added a vibrant energy and festive atmosphere to our stay. The events were spectacular and enhanced our experience, making it even more unforgettable. A special mention for the staff at the Excelsior Vittoria are the epitome of hospitality. Their warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism made our stay incredibly comfortable and memorable. They truly go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued. Especially Mauro and Laura on the front desk, Gerrardo & Nico on the terrace, Francesco, Guiseppe, Pasquallino and Giovanni - and Guiseppe & Francesco by the pool! A special highlight was enjoying drinks with the incredible hotel manager, Tiziana Laterza. Her passion for the hotel and dedication to her guests are truly inspiring. It was a pleasure to spend time with her and learn more about the history and future of this beautiful property. Our days pretty much looked like this... Breakfast by Piano: Starting our day with a sumptuous breakfast accompanied by live piano music was a daily delight. The serene atmosphere and exquisite food set a perfect tone for the day. Lunch by the Pool at Orangerie: Enjoying lunch by the pool at Orangerie was another highlight. The menu offered a delightful selection of fresh, seasonal and flavourful dishes, perfectly suited for a relaxing midday meal (full disclaimer - I either had caprese salad or pizza every day - SO GOOD) Dinner at Terrazza Bosquet: Dining at the michelin starred Terrazza Bosquet was an unforgettable experience. The sophisticated ambiance and gourmet cuisine made each dinner a culinary adventure. Sunset Drinks on the Terrace: The terrace provided an idyllic setting for sunset drinks. Watching the sun dip below the horizon with a refreshing cocktail in hand was pure magic. Late Night Drinks at La Pergola: Our nights often concluded with drinks at La Pergola. The cozy, intimate setting and exceptional service made it the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. The rooms are elegantly furnished, combining classic charm with modern comforts.
