Property Description
Set in the beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park, just a minute or so from Pembrokeshire's famously stunning coastal path, Tirmynydd (formerly known as Thimble End cottage) is situated in the tranquil heart of old Upper Solva. Built in the late 1700's, Tirmynydd has an abundance of period features. Exposed beams in the lounge/diner, deep set windows for sitting in with a good book and a homely welsh stone hearth to gather around after a day's walking on the coastal path or a day at the beach! The well-equipped kitchen with all mod cons offers everything you need to cook and dine with family and friends. A sunny, enclosed garden is ideal for barbeques, play and relaxation. You're welcome to bring your dogs (2 max, free for 1 dog and £25 for the second per week) and there's WiFi, as you'd expect. There are numerous pretty paths to take you down to picturesque Solva harbour, where children play on the sand when the tide is out, while others walk their dogs. The views on the way are breathtaking, quite unspoiled and different from one day to the next. Sit and watch the fishermen come in with the daily catch, families crabbing from the quay or wander along the quayside to the quaint little shops and galleries. Perhaps you will stop for refreshment in one of the several pubs and bistros near the harbour, or the brilliant 'Café on the Quay' serving teas, coffees and the most delicious Welsh ice cream - well worth a visit! When it comes to dining, choose to leave the car and take advantage of the excellent places to eat within easy walking distance from Tirmynydd, serving fresh catch-of-the-day, or venture a little further afield to St Davids or Porthgain for everything from afternoon teas to fine cuisine. Whether it's adrenaline-inducing watersports, boat trips to offshore islands, or coasteering you are after, or beaches, a little leisurely tourism, eating out or simply relaxing in the secluded garden under the pergola, Tirmynydd offers a comfortable, quiet base from which to explore beautiful Pembrokeshire, whatever the season.
