This is the just the type of hotel that we look for in places that have not been spoiled by over-tourism. It's a wonderful hotel, absolutely spotlessly clean and with a very comfortable bed and powerful shower. There is also a lovely swimming pool during the summer months. All those are the hallmarks of a really well-run hotel in smaller towns. But what makes this hotel particularly special is the welcome from the owner, Milos. He was there to greet us as we arrived and offered lots of really useful advice both about the town and other parts of Serbia. Milos has travelled all over the world for work and so is also a really useful source of information for other parts of the world that haven't been spoiled by over-tourism. Smederevo is a fascinating town with an enormous fortress, a really well-presented and fascinating Museum and a lovely central square with a beautiful church. The hotel is a little walk from the centre but a great opportunity to experience the friendliness and welcome of the Serbian people.
