Slane Farm Hostel, Cottages and Camping

I went to Slane Farm House with a school I teach, we stayed for one night. The girls stayed upstairs and there was thousands of flys in the two rooms, myself and my colleagues spent an hour trying to get the flys out but they kept coming out of the lights and the cracks of the windows even though they were shut closed.We had to move the girls to the game room upstairs but then it was also swarmed with flys so they all slept in one room together with two in each bed. The beds also weren’t very clean. I will not be coming here again.

I actually get where the good and bad reviews are coming from. The courtyard outside the cottages is great for a large group together and the bathrooms in the cottage look recently renovated with powerful showers. However everything is a bit shabby without the chic. There were quite a few cobwebs and the carpet threadbare with a few cracked tiles. The location is great, the communal feeling fantastic but all a bit dated. Wouldn't stop me staying again though. Can't comment on the camping side of things.

We stayed here at the time of the worst possible weather. But, the accommodation is excellent. The two people and the dog were very happy in one of the cottages. It was very roomy and clean, with excellent facilities. The owners were very helpful, telling us where we could walk our dog around the farm. The only things that didn't seem right, was people parking outside of the cottages where you had picnic benches and where children could have been playing. Also, the donkey and goat need shelter. Which are both small things but did not ruin our time. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a good base and will return if staying in the area again.

We had an amazing stay, clean and cosy cottage and perfect for children with a little park and plenty of space for them to play. Staff were so helpful and friendly, which made the stay that more comfortable. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely staycation spot with all amenities within 5min drive, lovely little fairy walks close by with Tayto Park and other fun activities easy to get too from this spot. We actually booked for 4 nights but chose to stay on for an extra 3 which was extended by the lovely couple who run the hostel/cottages. We were lucky that the availability was there. Overall amazing getaway, comfortable and safe surroundings, and we will 100% be coming back for the perfect little holiday. Thanks to all at Slane Farm hostel/cottages.

Stayed when attending a wedding on New Year’s Eve in tankardstown house. The girl who met us was friendly and pleasant but that’s the only thing good about the place. Was very disappointed with self catering accommodation. Arrived home from wedding to find no kettle. Bedclothes were so old they needed thrown out. Valence sheets not ironed. Dirt and dust on skirting boards on the lamp shades. Stains on lamp shades. Carpet stained. Cups stained and cutlery looked grubby. Furniture was so old I really don’t know where you would find it. Really needs cleaned and updated. Definitely would not recommend.

Me encantó! Totalmente recomendable, los apartamentos o cottages son muy espaciosas y equipadas, muy cómodas y limpias, y perfectas para compartir con familia o con amigos, además de estar en un lugar donde puedes disfrutar de la naturaleza y de los animales que tienen allí. Es un lugar muy bonito, tanto el sitio en concreto como el pueblo todo muy rural y la gente muy simpática. Nos atendieron de maravilla, los dueños son muy amables y estuvieron muy pendientes de que no nos faltará nada. Si llevas coche además tienen un parking que está bastante bien. Volvería a repetir cien por cien asegurado. Gracias por todo.
